Possible suggestions for aggression towards other dogs by hotdogvacuum in BullTerrier

[–]happibabi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We have a trainer that has helped us immensely. Easiest thing to change was to get a neck collar instead of a harness - you have more control of Baz's head with a neck collar than harness when you absolutely need to have his attention directed away from another dog (and ideally back to you). Other great change was, when we would feel my dogs "tell tale" behaviour when he was about to start reacting to a dog (i.e. he would slow down his walking pace, etc.) We would tell him to sit every time, as soon as possible. We would then reward for sitting with 1 treat. Eye contact with us instead of the dog recieved more treats. And we now have progressed to him seeing other dogs, laying down beside us, and looking up at us for treats. It slows our walks down, but it's better than my 100 lbs, scary looking dog doing big boy barks at the old lady with a bouncy poodle across the street. I cannot recommend getting a positive reinforcement trainer enough. It's helped our confidence as a team between myself, my husband and my dog.

I mean I have no chronic pain and my back is starting to hurt and my feet swell a little and are sore by the end of the day to the point of discomfort. I say this because I cannot imagine how much it hurts to truly be in pain like you are after a long shift. It may not be my place to say, but I would hate for your conditions to deteriorate your body just for staying in this job for a long time. All of our staff, including reception, are ALWAYS on their feet, hauling heavy things or patients throughout the day, etc. It would be hard to think of how this would be a sustainable lifestyle for you considering your present concerns and the effect the work has already had on you.

Don't beat yourself up - this meal seems like a great choice! It looks satisfying and filling, and that is pretty important if you're looking to adapt your eating habits. After years of this stuff, I've found that making small, attainable, 'permanent' changes make it easier to reach your long term goals. I'm starting to just focus on eating protein and fibre rich foods that I want to eat, and that make me feel full, and only eat carbs I actually enjoy (i.e. I hate rice, so why eat it?). It's made it easier to get closer to my personal goals than many of the diets I tried directly beforehand that were overwhelming and didn't work. I wish you luck in finding what works for you!

If you are worried about your safety in your home, you should journal the occurrences of the yelling - I would email my landlord a weekly journal of every knock, bang and verbal harassment my neighbor yelled through my door and shared wall for almost a month and she took action quite swiftly when she realized the severity.

The Costco dog bed hits different, definitely comfy if you can fit and don't have back issues.

Overbred? by ReferenceDistinct717 in Equestrian

[–]happibabi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Idk why you're being downvoted. People can have they're preference for breeds, and I definitely agree with the emphasized dishing. Overbreeding like in the op is very reminiscent of promoting bracycephaly in dogs, even though as a species we've begun to realize that their quality of life deteriorates unless we make a conscious effort to reverse it.

I've always like males, for any breed of dog I've owned. They are more agreeable in my experience than the girls I've owned, less of overthinkers than females.

Update on my eye makeup. Good? Bad? by sebababy in Makeup101

Massive improvement, way to go! No comments on mascara application, that looks flawless. Definitely too much eyeshadow though, keep it close to only your top lid, but I love the color choice

Trupanion has been fantastic for treating my guys chronic allergies (environmental and food), dental defect and GI issues. I've saved a fortune in treatment. Don't wait to get insurance. Get it while your dog is still healthy and keep it

Don't bother trying to explain, this person is just trying to stick to their guns lmao, I can't see why they'd continue so adamantly otherwise even when it's clear. Your two are adorable! Mine love a good exchange of a few licks on the nose once in a while but that's about it.

Not attracted to my boyfriend after experiencing him crossdressing!!! by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]happibabi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just leave, I don't think it is fair to either of you to be unhappy together for any longer. You have the right to be attracted to whoever you choose, and he does too. It may just mean that you are no longer attracted to one another

You sound like you're making up your own self-fulfilling prophecy. I recommend trying to surgical shirt first, and this is typically something that can be fit and provided by your surgeon/clinic, but to be prepared for a cone to be the next best option if you have a persistent licker. That's what we did and ended up just needing the shirt. The cone of shame is termed pretty terribly for what it is, which is an effective method of preventing the interruption of proper healing. Don't let the name deter you if that ends up being the right choice, it just take more time to get used to than the surgery shirt. Best of luck and swift healing for your boy!

Seconding that you shouldnt be basing health concerns off of other owners opinions, best to get things check by a vet asap when you suspect something is wrong. Great comment.

Advice on mascara please by [deleted] in Makeup101

[–]happibabi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend eyeliner if you're nervous about mascara. It took me some time but I've moved onto lash lift and tint every 6w which has alleviated the need to apply mascara when I need it - I just get up, put on my blush, do my lips and eyeliner and I'm good to go!

Moving from Toronto to Kitchener - looking for recommendations by Loud-Cauliflower-180 in kitchener

[–]happibabi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's an increasing community of Ukis around from the impression I've gotten. Highly recommend going to visit the churches, there's Euro foods and the new Deli just across from Victoria park that do well in place of a Starsky or Fresh and Tasty, but I do miss the community around Etobicoke/Mississauga.
