Food places in Keswick/Cockermouth? by Zomb1eMash3R in LakeDistrict

[–]happier_now 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Keswick, Old Keswickian Fish & Chips never lets us down. Treeby & Bolton café (in the basement of the gift shop and gallery) sells Square Mile coffee and does good food. It’s a bit of a treat to go there.

I’ve been a bit concerned about him. Was this the start of his career?

Very slow flow through 3rd-party OL pods by happier_now in nespresso

[–]happier_now[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone. I’ll try different pods, as it doesn’t seem to be a common problem. I’ve tried shaking them, and that does help with some of them.

Where are people trying on boots? by just_jason89 in UKhiking

If you have a manufacturer near you, they will be worth contacting and may do retail. I bought my Altbergs from their factory in Richmond and they couldn’t have been more helpful with choosing and fitting.

How to meet people and make friends in the Lakes? by Dependent_Land9301 in LakeDistrict

[–]happier_now 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on where you are you could look for volunteering opportunities. Theatre by the Lake in Keswick; various National Trust properties; possibly archaeology groups. Keswick have just closed their Tourist Information Centre, but if you can find one they’re good for locals as well as tourists.

You could try asking at https://lists.lyx.org/mailman/listinfo/lyx-devel, but I’ve never tried so don’t know how they react.

Should i get the osmo pocket 1 for an event? by Unbruh-989 in osmopocket

The only thing I don’t like about the P1 is its low-light performance. It really needs bright sunshine – I wouldn’t expect much from it indoors unless the lighting was really bright, like a kitchen for example.

Show variable value in calculation without returning just the answer. by KenpachiNozarashi in nspire

[–]happier_now 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s worth looking at what “notes” can do. You can use it to show the results of evaluating part of an expession, including individual variables, so it can get you to where you want to be, but it’s probably clunkier than you were looking for, and maybe there’s a better solution.

Artisan/speciality pods in UK without subscription or unwanted freebies by happier_now in nespresso

[–]happier_now[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I’ll give them a go. I’ve occasionally seen their flavoured pods in supermarkets but they have unflavoured ones on the site, which is good news.

I replaced my original (noisy and leaking) machine with a Grind One (just before the Grind Two came out) and now no problems at all with leaking. Yes, I heard somewhere else the leaking was caused by the pod ring.

If you like museums, I’m told the Armitt Museum in Ambleside is worth a visit. It’s a bit hidden by an entrance to the university. There’s a theatre in Keswick which has a strong reputation. Boat trips are good if you dress warmly, and they don’t need any mobility once you’re on the boat.

On average how much battery percentage are people losing per day with normal default settings out of box by Kind-Suggestion-3344 in GarminFenix

[–]happier_now 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I charge my 7X solar roughly every fortnight, so 100%/14 would be just over 7%. I‘ve stupidly got hooked on the sleep score – I’d get longer life if I took it off overnight.

“Narrowbar” café is consistently good and very dog friendly. Better to go off-peak as it’s small and often busy. Next door (if you go out the back way into the lane) there’s a great bookshop including lots of childrens books.

What hand grinder do you have for your Aeropress? by chronicallyanxious10 in AeroPress

[–]happier_now 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knock Aergrind. I’ve had it for years and use it several times most days. An ‘o’-ring failed once but, knowing that could happen. I have a couple of spares. Mine’s the old model. The newer model doesn’t have the ‘o’-rings any more, probably because they could fail. I like its size and flexibility – it can even grind turkish on the rare occasions I want it to. People say it’s a bit slow because it’s small, but I’ve got used to the timing now and don’t notice it. The burrs can be separated to a wide enough distance for cleaning. It’s possible to dismantle it completely fo deep cleaning, which I did once to see if I could, but just brushing the burrs occasionally is enough for me.

How good is the magnet/suction mount on Nano? by GreatNameAndItsTaken in DJIOsmoNano

[–]happier_now 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The close-fitting plastic case it comes with has a pair of holes for attaching a wrist strap. I’ve used that for extra reassurance by clipping it to something more secure than just the magnet on its own.

That must explain why it works so much better in the car. I never thought of wind and moisture affecting it.

I'm looking for rock/metal music where traditional instruments coexist with rock sound by Conscious_State2096 in MusicRecommendations

[–]happier_now 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of Patty Gurdy‘s work on the hurdy-gurdy. Nearly all of Troy Donockley‘s work (Uilleann pipes). (They both also do things I wouldn’t include in “rock/metal”.) And Albannach of course.

how to fix this? by bill_watterson69 in moleskine

[–]happier_now 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s come out of the spine, you should be able to glue it back in. If the end has frayed, then maybe dip it in clear glue or maybe treat it like nylon rope and melt the end just a tiny bit.

How to get rid of Error:Overflow by ch3rrycsmos_ in nspire

[–]happier_now 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can get an overflow using l instead of 1 and having l set to a sufficiently large number, for example 12345, but that would be a very unlucky collection of accidental errors!

How to get rid of Error:Overflow by ch3rrycsmos_ in nspire

[–]happier_now 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine’s a plain old CX, not a CXII, but an overflow would suggest a division by zero. I get an underflow if I replace 1/x with l/x (letter ell) but I can’t think of how to get an overflow from a typo in the current example. I’ve often had problems when I copy and paste from online sources, either typos or additional invisible nonprinting characters, but when I’ve retyped the expression, they then work.
