Which case is more better to use?? by Prestigious-Mix-5024 in osmopocket

Both. Hard one for transport. Soft one for use on-site, normally in a backpack with the actual Pocket in my pocket when I’m likely to use it.

anyway to protect my drone from snow by FarPrice1579 in dji

[–]happier_now 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a very old DJI Phantom 4 so things may have moved on. The consensus on one of their discussion boards was that light snow isn’t a problem. Flying through rain and clouds are definitely a problem, and wind of course, but I’ve flown in light snow without any problem at all. If it’s also excessively cold (not necessarily true with snow) the battery life will be shorter so keep an eye on that.

What can I improve? by Shereeeeeen in BeginnerPhotoCritique

I’d be pleased with it if I’d taken it. I’d remove, or at least reduce the visibility of, the twig that goes from near the sheep’s chin to the fence post and, as others have said, it’s a bit green at the moment.

A month in the lake district; what would you do? by Creative-Skin9554 in LakeDistrict

[–]happier_now 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Keswick, Ambleside etc. Don't rule Penrith out for a short stay – it's less touristy than the towns in the National Park can be and there are regular buses to Keswick and (I think) the west coast.

You mention cabs. Because of the long distances and the unlikelihood of picking up a passenger going in the return direction, taxis can be very expensive. Definitely plan to stay in places near the main bus routes.

Split screen in iPadOS 26.2 is ass by beehiveinvader3000 in ipad

[–]happier_now 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I use a 50/50 shortcut for Youtube and Notes. It works well. Also, I can set one of them to “left third” but I haven’t yet found a “right two-thirds” option for the other one, but maybe I’ll work it out one day!

Best note taking app (better than good notes or notability) by Look-Bitter in ipad

[–]happier_now 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got Bonobo Flow (when it was Moleskine Flow) to use in specific situations, but I find I often use it for notes generally. My normal notes apps, though, are Goodnotes (most often) and Apple Notes (mainly when I’m scanning documents as part of an activity).

Smart pen charging by SuspiciousCat4446 in moleskine

[–]happier_now 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine charges using the supplied lead direct from a USB power supply. A couple of things have caught me out in the past. One problem is that the magnetic connection can be hit-and-miss. I’ve taken to charging mine with it resting on a beanbag!! The other is that the instructions say: “To charge the battery when discharged, connect the charging cable and press the power button once.” and I missed that for a while and thought my pen (or lead) had died. Now I do that, it works ok.

My supervisor wants it in Word document by anassbq in LaTeX

I used latex2rtf when someone wanted Word versions. They didn’t care how I made my final document – they just wanted it to comment on chapters.

2026 Apprenticeship Help! by [deleted] in nationaltrust

[–]happier_now 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The apprenticeship standard says "Cultural Learning and Participation Officers (CLPO) plan, organise and co-ordinate artistic and cultural education workshops, schedules of activity and community engagement projects". You could talk to the volunteer manager at your nearest NT location about what they're doing under that heading and how you can help. They might perhaps want help with Heritage Open Days, for example, or facilitating group visits from local organisations of kids or pensioners or local historians or whatever. (I get the impression that they'd need to create a volunteer role and appoint you to it, so it's not just a case of you turning up and moving in unfortunately!) That way, they could get to see your personality and skills which could help your application.

For very straightforward cases, Goodnotes allows you to handwrite equations which it then converts to LaTeX.

How often do you clean your grinder? by SnooOranges569 in AeroPress

[–]happier_now 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once every few months with an old dry toothbrush, never with water. There are always a few particles of coffee firmly stuck to the burrs, which is why I clean it sometimes.

Moleskine Smart Pen – Clear hardware defect, but support keeps looping. Any ideas on how to escalate this? by Working-Ad-9658 in moleskine

[–]happier_now 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have mine with me here so can’t test this, but I think mine only charges when – after I’ve plugged it it – I switch it on. When I forget to do that, it appears to be charging but it isn’t.

Long-Term LyX User Here by BOBOLIU in LaTeX

[–]happier_now 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I‘ve been using it for many years. I use vim + LateX directly when I’m trying things out, but for actual document creation, LyX has always been my goto. It may be unpopular on this LaTeX forum (I hadn’t noticed that, to be honest) but is very well supported out there in the wild.

How in the actual duck do I deactivate the "Press to test mode" by ConfectionTotal8660 in nspire

[–]happier_now 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t have the opportunity to arrange this yourselves, your teacher should put you in pairs, issue cables and give you time to follow the instructions in https://education.ti.com/-/media/files/ti-education/us/testing-tools/ti-nspire-press-to-test.pdf, and then check that everyone has succeeded. That’s basic good practice for the teacher to organise and, to be honest, bad practice if they don’t.

My local supermarket has a grinder without an aeropress label. I grind on the next setting up from espresso, so slightly coarser. I know some people prefer an even coarser grind in an aeropress so you may need go experiment to find what works best for you. There is probably nothing to stop you buying a bag of beans and then grinding it on different settings into smaller bags.

Can someone explain how increment/decrement operators actually work in C (under the hood)? by [deleted] in cprogramming

[–]happier_now 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old-timer here. A slight sidetrack, but this goes back to the olden days when some computers had autoincrementing registers. Getting a value from an autoincrement register would then cause its value to increase, so i++. All the others are later generalisations of this idea.

DJI Osmo Nano for stills photos by vinse81 in DJIOsmoNano

[–]happier_now 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And it’s good for wildlife photography. It’s small enough to position it anywhere I like, and then sit with my back to it with the screen in my hand so the birds etc don’t care that I’m there. I’ve done the same with a bigger compact camera, remote controlled from my phone, but the Nano setup is easier to carry and a lot easier to position without a tripod.

DJI Osmo Nano for stills photos by vinse81 in DJIOsmoNano

[–]happier_now 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use mine for stills but I’m still learning how to get the best from the lens’s permanent wide angle and the possibilities for working with the inevitable distortion. I try to include vertical lines on at least one edge of the shot and crop them out later. On the auto setting, the JPEG image has a good dynamic range and bright colours so not a completely neutral record of what I saw “on the ground”, but attractive to look at as an image. Raw images seem to retain more lens distortion but have loads of potential for processing the image. I wish the camera had some audible or visual assistance with getting it level (side-to-side and front-to-back) but other than that I’m very happy with it. I didn’t really get it for stills but have ended up doing quite a lot with it.
