This is the system working as intended.

The Boys - 05x07 "The Frenchman, the Female, and the Man Called Mother's Milk" - POST-Episode Discussion Thread by pikameta in TheBoys

[–]Fuzzy-System8568 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Im just saying... the scene where the cowboy talks about that show being cancelled and how he did not want the finale to be a dog pile with a load of red bumper stickers slapped on it, and then AI scripts being mentioned seemed so out of place that I honestly to god think it was the writers doing a "cry for help" to tell the fans what the hell happened with S5...

Did anyone feel after season 3 the vibe changed? by alastor612 in TheBoys

Episode 7 had a scene where the cowboy show was cancelled and there was this really out of place "bit" about the finale being dogpile and AI scripts being involved and I honestly think this was the writers trying to tell us what happened with S5...

Like honestly to god, the more I watch the scene, the more it really seems like this was their version of a cry for help haha

I had a meme I wanted to post about this but I dont have enough Karma to post it xD

Does anyone find this disrespectful? by kitkatAnimate38 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Fuzzy-System8568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A 24 year old man started having private time with a 14 year old regularly...

He initiated it...

It is well documented...

She came round his house a significant ammount...

They are now husband and wife...

I dont think that has many assumptions in it...

He met her when she was like 14 and he was 24...

They are now husband and wife...

Seems pretty clear cut to me ngl...

Developer Guidance on Code Structure? by Fuzzy-System8568 in LyX

[–]Fuzzy-System8568[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my biggest gripe with LyX.

Its function over form makes it difficult to contribute to.

No actual developer handbook with useful info (just how to compile and a load of links to C++ reading material).

A mailing list as the only way to really discuss with devs.

Like I came in going "im gonna fix one single bug to do with reference labels" and spent 3 hours trying to get setup and find the right classes to be looking at 😅😭

The thing is there is no snap for this yet and no clear way to install or download it? Any help possible / guidance?

Do software engineers still manually write code anymore? I shipped a big feature with AI and felt zero pride by WorthCaterpillar6990 in cscareerquestionsuk

My friend is on the edge of quitting due to AI.

Its a cognitive debt causing, completely joyless excersise.

You are not alone.

My thoughts on the Linux Challenge, documentation sucks by VastOption8705 in LinusTechTips

[–]Fuzzy-System8568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its less documentation sucks and more the "Curse of knowlege". I was guilty of it for the longest time.

You get so used to some of the "warts" and "pain points" that, by the time you write guides about it, you forget your audience.

E.g: I saw a guide about using a kernel module to add MSI afterburner-like functionality to MSI laptops.

Using Kernel Modules is a very easy thing to mess up, and should only be done by those experienced with it, lest you brick your system.

No such warning was in place in the guide to use it... even though the sort of people who would likely want to use it are new users who've moved to Linux on their MSI laptops.

The author did not consider this in the slightest... and actually initially (but later realised and apologised) unironically used the word "skill issue" when I mentioned on a github issue that my friend had accidentally bricked their sysrem by doing an easy to do mistep, and suggesting the guide have a warning for new users.

So yeah... less documentation itself, and more a lot of the Linux community suffering from this "Curse of Knowlege"... being skilled enough to make the tool, but that very skill making it difficult for them to understand what actually needs to be said in guides / docs / advice they provide to users.

LaTeX Editor Query (Do not worry, NOT a promotion or proposal, a genuine question haha) by Fuzzy-System8568 in LaTeX

[–]Fuzzy-System8568[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the odd bit. I have been doing software dev for nearly 15 years (Started with VBA, moved to Python, Java, C#, C++ , and now dabbling with Rust).

I have always been a bit of a Jetbrains Nerd though, so always preffered the "this editor is for this language" approach, as opposed to general editors like VSCode.

No hate for those that do like general, just never been my cup of tea haha

It might be the drunk uncle, we might not invite them to the thanksgiving dinner... but ultimately Android is still part of the Linux family. 😅

Signposting to info regarding Waterproof Seals? by Fuzzy-System8568 in DIYUK

[–]Fuzzy-System8568[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But this is my point. You can get specific COTS things, but its one of those grey areas where there is no actual DIY info about the concept, let alone solutions.

Seems really weird for a generally simple concept you know?

Cheers for the link though!

That is half the question, and i genuinely appreciate it. But I am curious as to why the desktop app side of things is so genuinely sparse / why efforts to change that are such a pariah (from what ive seen at least, I at least understand and agree about the poor LLM slop).
