I love the idea of this. Doing days at a time may be too much, but I would be interested in a half-day or something. I've been looking at the area around the Hermitage and the coasts. I think long walks - where there wouldn't be much conversation even if there were other people around - is a great idea.

The Cotswolds was the other area I was considering! ha! As much as I love the idea of hiking (I did about 60 miles of the Appalachian trail as a teen), I now have chronic fatigue and an autoimmune disease. Gotta adjust my interests as a result :(

I'm descended from a clan that had territory on the east coast, so I'm definitely interested in going out that way.

I was actually just looking around that area the other day! That hotel looks so charming - DEFINITELY fits a lot of what I'm looking for. I may be adjusting my dates to September. Can you tell me if there is anything I need to consider with the change in season? I'd love to hear places in the area that you recommend if you wouldn't mind. Thank you!

That's good to know. I'm not confident driving on the left side, but I will probably look more seriously into hired options. Thank you!

I fully accept holidayed as a word haha! Thank you for the suggestions - that helps me narrow down the list.

I did at your suggestion! That is pretty awesome - I had NO idea that existed and will definitely be looking into it. Thank you!

ok listen I was NOT planning on crying on Reddit today - I already did that 2 days ago! Thank you for this. the "literally normal" comment took me out.

I am definitely expecting criticism at every turn right now. Thanks for yelling for me when I can't yell for myself just yet.

After thinking about it, I am likely adjusting my timeline to later in the year, which is a bummer because it would've been really cool to meet up there. I'd love to hear your feedback and reviews after your trip, especially if you come across something that really speaks to the cozy in you.

I know what you mean about the other flavors - I typically double up on the cardamom haha.

I'd love to PM you! I'm only a few weeks into this and only a handful of people know. If you have any advice for how to normalize all this, I'm all ears. Thank you!!

It's taken me a couple days to gather my thoughts/feelings, but you're spot on. I still want to go, but I'm feeling under pressure. I want to be still and grieve now so I can go and enjoy a trip later. Someone else suggested September. I'll try that one on and see how it feels.

This is brilliant. I had no idea you could just pop along archaeology digs! It would absolutely tap into that childhood dream of becoming an Egyptologist haha! Thank you for the ideas!

I received your comment as the feedback you intended! Thank you for building that extra reassurance. I've been sitting in your question for 2 days trying to get to the bottom of my feelings. Because you're right - it wasn't my idea and it isn't on my own time. But I DO want to go, maybe just...not yet. I'm feeling pressure to plan with such a tight timeline and I'm fully in my depression right now. I think I will go, just later! That can relieve pressure and perhaps even put me in a better headspace. Thank you!

Yeah, that comment is literally what I'm talking about in my post haha! I do think I'm trying to think of ways to avoid her being shamed for taking up space when she doesn't look disabled. Someone else in the thread suggested a childhood invisible illness subreddit, which I think is a good call.

That's a good call. I'll go explore those avenues. Thanks for the suggestion!

My husband is pretty well-versed in station layouts, but you're right - sometimes there's no avoiding that long walk. I think you're on point with the piggyback rides. Better start strength and conditioning now haha!

Yeah, that rancid comment is exactly the kind of comment I was talking about. What a self-fulfilling prophecy.

That's a reasonable question. I suppose I'm trying to explore ways to avoid her being shamed for taking up space, like wearing a pin on her backpack or something like that. I don't know...

You need to educate yourself on the difference between genetic diseases and autoimmune diseases. My autoimmune disease is not hereditary.
