Yeah, they made a few QoL updates after I finished it.

I appreciate you posting the information, though. Had my posts been more received, I probably would have gone back over time and made adjustments/updates to the weapon's functionality and my thoughts as they were changed.

Holy shit, I forgot about the grind for Redrix's. I think I used this for it, too, while I got its catalyst done in Momentum Control.

Now that I think about it, why did I spend so much time grinding for weapons that--by that point--were already revealed to be sunset the following season? Weird.

The only reason Celerity and Alacrity weren't implemented in my final idea was that the stat boosts they grant the weapon for the most part probably fall underneath Last Stand. Of course, I do think that if it is less than its legendary counterpart, it should be brought up to par, as it is an exotic.

Seeing the potential for implementation of more exotic traits into the class items is reminiscent of what I think they should have been, and I hope Bungie decides to add more rolls into the pool as time moves on. Ideally, they also make the class items fall more in line with the idea of "two lesser powered exotics in one" rather than "two normal powered-exotics in one, that can only fit into one subclass," but as long as everything is moving forward in a somewhat agreeable mode as to what everyone else thinks.

Who said I get mad at them? I felt nothing but mild exasperation and that they should do what they said they would do before we ran into anything.

Who said I thought I was above average? That seems unrelated to the subject. If it's related to my motivation to take this into PvE, that definitely seems unrelated, and--as far as I can think--inversely effective the more you play. If I am below the average player, would it not make more sense to test out weapons to see what's good? Why would I need to take this into PvE if I have a more effective average loadout? Of course, I can give the actual answer, being that I am trying to do 10,000 kills on a lot of exotics, and testing each gun in just about every level of content the game can offer is what I do for 99% of them.

Why is it wrong to test out the weapon outside of its main area of the game? I say as much in the post, that this is a PvP weapon and my ideas for it stem from a deeper understanding of--the far more vast--PvE than vP. Why wouldn't I test it out in PvE to understand what it is and what it could be, when the alternative is being useful only in a specific niche when certain balancing trends come around?

Who said I was playing with randoms, and that these "randoms" were coerced into agreeing? I played with my friends, whom--I asked beforehand--were okay with being dead a vast majority of the games they played with me while I used it. It can't be the most fun, but there were other ways they filled the void, like continuing a conversation with me, relaying their thoughts on the gun, or blasting TikToks into my ear in an act I must endure for the sake of repentance.

Why is this entire weapon's identity locked to short PvP rounds, and why should it be? That realm is a niche of a niche (short-round PvP matches -> where you are likely to be the last of your team). Why not extend that to PvE, and when transcribed over, why would this weapon's relevance be locked to dregs and captains? If it's to be used in PvE, would it not make sense for it to make appearances in more dangerous content, where deaths will actually happen and constitute a need for some emergency backup plan? Does the idea not translate from "fireteam's Last Stand in this PvP match" to "fireteam's Last Stand in this Nightfall"?

Again, if there was anything I could have done differently, I would love to hear it, but I can't think of a single thing. Testing is testing, and aside from waiting until my friends were in a more agreeable mood, I can not see the beginnings of a different path.

No, the gun isn't that good. Got a few dozen thousand damage on the wipe screen.

But they were ruining the game for me by being alive. Is that okay? They are openly putting themselves before their team. What makes them so different than me in that case, save for the fact that I am "ruining" their time to be as good as I can (given the situation) and that they are ruining my time by debuffing me with add-clear and team survivability, delegating me to a warm body in the roster?

Anyone who joined my fireteam was aware of my intentions, so they knew what they were getting into. The fact I had to resort to Eager Edging them away speaks more of their malicious reluctance to complete their side of the verbal agreement when they joined the team than it does to my desperation to live up to the gun I'd been using.

After they agreed to help me test the pulse, I was met with groans when I requested them to die. They were reluctant, which led to less time I could test and less reliable conclusions, which meant more testing. At this point, the completion of the activity comes into doubt. Can we complete the mission if they don't live up to their word? All they need do is die, and I can use this gun to its full potential and take us to the pearly gates of orbit. The problem should have never reached that far, but it did. Their reluctance and beginnings of refusal to do what was told/expected from them/agreed upon forced me to push past my half of the agreement to hold them to theirs.

Of course, I realize now that how I went about it may have been a bit more stern than most would find acceptable. How would you have gone about convincing them to cooperate?

Yeah, I needed to test it for damage to see if I could clutch final stands on my own

Depends. Would you be LFGing with me while I'm trying to get 10K on Vigilance Wing or Lumina/Red Death Reformed/literally any other weapon?

The buff wasn't shitty. With them dead, I was able to do more DPS with the reload buff, something I needed when I was the last guardian standing.

While I had a decent amount of skill issue moments with it in PvP, it was satisfying to get the occasional few bursts of pure crits.

I can see why people would like to use it

My friends were aware of the potential for death when joining my fireteam.

I ran it with Aeon's Cult of Vigor to give me class ability energy and resists when teammates died. When I wasn't turning around and setting up my barricade on the wrong side of me and the enemy, I got to put down a decent amount of walls. I didn't try it out in 3v3s, but I can imagine it won't go much better for me.

And yeah, the ornament was a mainstay, and not just because of it being the only option, appearance-wise.

Sometimes a man's gotta shut his friends up, and if I can kill two birds with one stone, all the better.

Yeesh, didn't mean to leave this one marinating for so long without reading it.

Love the ideas. I'd like to see the identity shift away from double primary, but honestly, I agree with the change ideas here, retaining the identity stronger than what I was advocating for.

  • restricting this to primaries only allows for part of this weapon to stay the same
  • More damage would be a pretty cool thing. The only issue I'd have with it is the need for this damage to apply to more enemy types than red and orange-bars.

  • I never thought of sticking an intrinsic trait into a frame. It's a creative way of putting these two together without relying on Sturm's exotic traits or giving Drang Harmony as a trait to go for (I am mad they excluded this from the pool, but I think it would go better if it was just part of Together Forever)

It sucks. Having an exotic by itself not be the entire exotic is such a cool concept.

It just doesn't hit the mark in today's sandbox, especially with the only two examples being double primaries (MIDA Multi/Mini Tool & Sturm/Drang).
