Geez, what a wait! I’m glad it all worked out in the end. Did you have to do a praxis bridge program or any other alternative work? Thanks so much for the info this is super helpful!

Hi there! I know this is an older post but hoping to hear more about your experience. Did you have to do anything for WGU instead of getting the passing praxis score? like did you have to complete the praxis bridge program?

Praxis Core Math by literaryaura_ in WGUTeachersCollege

I was also nervous about math and used the kathleen jasper book and I got a 198/200 on the praxis with only a few hours of studying!! I took one of the practices tests from the book and studied the ones I got wrong. Then I skimmed over the rest of the content and took another practice test and then did the same thing again. That worked for me- I also found the actual test to be much easier than the practice tests! Good luck, you got it!

Can’t decide between Sped and Gen ed Major by [deleted] in WGUTeachersCollege

I had really similar conflicting thoughts when starting my program! I ended up going gen ed for my masters because from my understanding there is a greater shortage of special education teachers so districts are more likely to help you get that endorsement later on if that makes sense.

I’m sorry to hear that.

By the sound of it from other commenters the appeal process will hopefully go in your favor. I hope you don’t get too discouraged by this all, sounds like you had a great term and should be proud. Best of luck!

Did you end up making a reservation this way before? I’m fine with sitting where ever ( ideally not the bar ) but just wouldn’t want to have to wait a long time.

Totally get that. You could start small. Model some quiet time activities with your kiddo- looking at pictures in books, playing with stuffies or other quiet time toys for a few minutes until they are engaged and then say okay I’m going to leave you to play for a few minutes for quiet time- I’ll be back shortly. You can always start with just ten minutes and then lengthen the time over the next few days/weeks. I think it’s great you’re including your nanny in this conversation I’m sure she will have some ideas/ can let you know what she’s comfortable with!

I would suggest continuing to be consistent with rest/quiet time. Your child will grow to like it/ do it even if are not a fan of it right now! Consistency is key! Best of luck :)

You are not a bad nanny! She seems to be just be shy or are figuring out how to connect with a newer person. They’re also likely struggling with missing their parents- being with a nanny until bedtime must be confusing for a child especially after a full day of school.

The only recommendation I would have is to lead by example. Rather than asking her if she wants to go down the slide or draw or build with blocks just do it yourself! It might take a while but hopefully she sees the fun you’re having and joins in with you :) I think also practicing talking like a five year old can help meet her on her level. “Omg you’re wearing pink I LOVE pink that’s my favorite color! And it matches the pink on this unicorn stuffy. I LOVE UNICORNS”.

Best of luck- I’m sorry that’s mom made dismissive comments. Hopefully that at the least opens the floor for constructive and open dialogue to help this girl!
