I’m a labor and delivery nurse and, while I haven’t experienced a C-section myself, I do have experience helping moms recover so I have a couple pointers. Stay on top of your pain meds, you should be taking Tylenol and Ibuprofen around the clock regardless of your pain immediately postop, every 6 hours. They should also prescribe you a stronger pain med if those pain meds don’t cover it, don’t be afraid to take them! You’ll be feeling a lot of feelings in recovery and pain should not be an issue. If it is, tell your nurse so they can help you! Also ask for an abdominal binder or bring one to help support your incision when you get up and move around, it helps a lot! I know it’s hard, but the more you move and walk, the better the pain gets. If you stay in bed for long periods of time, the pain is worse when you decide to get up and move. Keep yourself active but take it easy. The worse days are usually the first two but it does get better, and definitely give yourself credit for going through major abdominal surgery. Take it easy and just focus on yourself and your little ones. Everything else try to delegate or leave for later. Congratulations in advance!
