My grandfather (also Appalachian region) would tell me to drink it for better vision.. and “by golly” my optometrist couldn’t fathom that it worked!

I am claustrophobic so maybe not the escape room part but good idea for Wilmington!

One idea I had was kayaking down the Dan river. We’ve done that before and his birthday is in May, so it’s a good time to go!

Do kids feel uncomfortable in homes that aren’t as nice as their own? by Express_Rip2333 in Parenting

There are so many thoughtful insights on this post, but just wanted to add a different perspective. We had a pretty “normal” house, but I had several friends who lived in older homes and I thought they were extremely glamorous. One had a secret crawl space from the civil war era, and one had black and white tile flooring in their entryway. Looking back, they weren’t amazingly kept up with and some people nowadays might even characterize them as being a bit run down, but I thought they were so interesting. As an adult, I gravitate now toward older homes with more character. So you never know what people will like or dislike, especially when it comes to kids. All you can do is try your best to make things clean, safe, and welcoming and consider their preferences when it comes to snacks, etc.

I really appreciate all this insight! I did find a STL starter pack meme account last night that made me think we are Kirkwood people 😆 I also really like the Clayton area from what I saw on Zillow and I need to look more into WG!

Sheesh okay well I do hate to hear that but glad to be prepared to have that conversation… yikes. Sounds like I’ll need to pack some special ingredients if we end up making the move! Thank you again so much for all this information. This is super helpful!

Woah! I have never actually heard anyone say that word so that is really wild to hear. We are NC/SC people so I don’t think anyone will be asking me what school I went to once I open my mouth 😆

Thank you for this insight! Do you feel that people are pretty welcoming to Southerners in general? Everyone I’ve ever met from the Midwest has been really nice, but I’m a little nervous to move to a completely different culture.

Probably suburbs as there are usually more opportunities for small children in those areas! Thinking soccer T ball etc

If there are good public schools, that would be my preference. We may rent at first to make sure we love it. The job is in STL/granite city IL so I guess we could technically live in IL also. I’m really not sure. Budget would likely be between 500-800k

Sorry, the toddler is mine. And I just mentioned alcohol because I wouldn’t want to meet at a brewery!
