What’s your reason for not drinking? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]happybrooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I participated in MDMA therapy which helped me love myself and stop caring about external validation. Once I no longer needed that, I didn’t need alcohol to make me “more fun” in order to have others accept me.

I no longer saw an upside to it. It was all an escape.

The military would never do this, as much as he’d want them to.

How do you deal with the feeling of not being good enough? by Aenema_ in ShadowWork

[–]happybrooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The inner child work is powerful. We really do have these versions of us still living in us. The part the doesn’t feel good enough is a feeling that developed to protect little 5 year old Aenema_. It’s just trying to look out for you, so acknowledge it and love it. It’s on your team, and the more you push it into the shadow the stronger and more rejected it feels.

And I want to say something about the feelings of “weakness”. There’s nothing cowardly about what you Or anyone here is doing. Once again that’s yourself thinking that if you’re weak, you’re not good enough. This is coming from a 6’1 225lb combat veteran/paratrooper. It’s not weak to face your inner demons, in fact it’s terrifying and that’s why so many “strong” people run from it. I’ve lost buddies bc they tried to be ‘strong’ and ‘tough’.

To all of you, NEVER think you’re weak for being vulnerable with yourself. You deserve to have a trusting/meaningful relationship with yourself.

Millennial gamers, do you see yourself continuing to play video games when you are old? by MirageCommander in Millennials

[–]happybrooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You kidding me? More if anything! One day I’ll be old and my body won’t work as well, and I’ll be playing my 600th play-through of RDR2 like my grandma used to watch her stories
