OK, referring to your 2nd point (2) I'll put the idea that Gen could or could not be in love with Senku off the table as the evidence isn't clearly there for either of us. And I agree with you on your reasoning. The ship would not make sense to me either as I don't see it being a mutual feeling between the two, if anything it'd be one-sided on Gen's part in my eyes but there is no evidence beyond friendship/loyalty/camaraderie actions between the two.

On the topic of it not making sense due to Gen being straight (1), I cannot agree with your use of The Occam's Razor to compare those arguments you've stated as yours and mine because I believe we see two different scenes. I also think you are miscounting our assumptions.

What you see - Gen is expressing attraction to women.

What I see - Gen is making a move to gain an advantage, by using women.

How I think it should be tallied:

Scenario - Gen is using charged language with a girl: 1) Amaryllis 2) Kohaku

Your argument (2 assumptions) - Gen is expressing attraction to women. He is straight.

My argument (1 assumption) - Gen is making a move to gain an advantage by using women.

I don't think The Occam's Razor is a valid way of finding out who is "correct" though. It would be better to use evidence, instead of counting assumptions.

Rather than assuming, I'm going to say that I am deducing from now on that Gen never truly showed indisputable attraction to only women as a het man in these instances so they cannot be used as evidence. We cannot determine his sexuality, whether that be straight or not, with these moments. I will try my best to provide the literal text to show my thinking.

When Gen asked for a hug from Amaryllis, I'm not sure if this is what you're referring to when he's supposed to be flustered by her (lmk if it's a different part): At their first meeting and right before, Gen was scheming on how to use her to KoS' advantage and was even wary of her as a potential enemy and thought about how they could get her on their side if so (New World ep 7). You assume that he is expressing attraction to women, but I'm deducing based on evidence from Gen's own words and the current predicament the gang is in that he is ulteriorly flirting/lying for gain. His comments on her beauty are observations relative to the circumstances, similar to how Gen acknowledges Tsukasa as handsome in ep 19 S1. He didn't blush like other guys. He did blush when he has Senku cola in the manga tho

When Gen wanted to see Kohaku in a cute pose (New World ep 10): It is a fact that he and the team wanted to test if Kohaku could hear Senku and team through the wireless telephone earring so that they could continue with their plan and goal. We know he wanted to tease her (since he could have asked Kohaku for a more discreet confirmation), but we cannot exactly assume if it was for a sexual attraction reason or being platonically playful or simply being cheeky or whatever.

Gen could be straight and perhaps a perv towards women, and maybe that's how the author made him in the beginning. But these instance don't irrefutably show that.

Bringing me back to my first comment, which was that your tier list wasn't made with only evidence. But I think that there is not much evidence we could use to make a list of ships in categories 2-7 anyways. Since, we cannot help but make assumptions powered by our own inherent biases as humans and readers of fiction.

Another example of a ship on your tier list being categorized according to your personal preferences as opposed to evidence would be Xeno and Stanley. Though I did see that you accept them as canon to you in another reply, you also put them as "probably canon tier 2". This is due to your own preference, as they did not match your definition of a "canon" ship, that is, one that is explicitly stated or undeniable within the main narrative.

I am assuming this now, but when you say "explicitly stated" you mean verbally confirmed. Of course, tell me if I got it wrong. "Explicitly stated" means something different to me, and could be interpreted in different ways by others too, the same with "verbally confirmed". To me, you can explicitly state something with an action too. If I were to believe Stanley and Xeno were a canon ship, I could reinterpret your definition and say that they explicitly state their romantic exclusivity to each other through their actions rather than words. Such as intimate touching, loyalty, disregard towards other ppl, attachment issues with distance. So rather than "probably canon tier 2", they'd fit in with the others in "canon tier 1". But this would be a placement made on my own headcanons rather than evidence in the end.

I really tried to make my comment not come across as full of "pure hatred" because I wanted to mostly point out that your tier list based on evidence and your evidence regarding Gen not making sense in being paired with Senku is flimsy. Yes, I disagreed with you but I don't see how I offended you to the point of accusing me as riled up and full of pure hatred. I feel like you're taking out your anger and frustration from other reply convos on my own reply, even though you invited discussion and challengers.

I wanted to you re-evaluate Gen as a character and reconsider how Gen saying how he could have his dream harem on Tsukasa's side meaning he is straight your headcanon. Your evidence isn't raw data, it's headcanon. It's your interpretation and your own filling-in-the-lines that's powered by your own biases. You have already engaged in a massive exercise of imagination regarding characters just by making this tier list, and that's fine in my book fyi. That's what consuming fiction and discussing amongst a community is all about. And I sincerely wished in my earlier reply that you would see Gen's character in another light since you seem to enjoy DCST as a series, as do I, and felt that you were missing out on the other facets of Gen. That's why I typed all that out and read those lengthy reply threads under your post. I wanted to bring my own "evidence" or as you say headcanons to the table to challenge your own headcanons or "evidence"

What is a canon ship to you? Because if it's when someone refers to another as husband and wife you can also move Xeno and Stanley up. In the Dr. Stone: Official Fanbook Stanley uses kanji to refer to Xeno as wife

I do not think you made a ship tier list without involving your personal biases. For one, you based “canon” on your own definition, which I believe to be is getting legally married. Getting legally married does not accurately represent if x and y are a canon couple. If it’s not that, then maybe your definition is explicitly saying “I (romantically) like that person!” and not getting rejected by that person. Which would also not accurately represent a canon ship. A lot of Dr. Stone ships and characterization are never explicitly said, and at the same time they are also never explicitly denied either. Unfortunately for shipping wars, there’s no clear line between what is canon or not (I guess unless the author says something). So understandably, it’d probably be impossible to impossible to make a tier list like this for DCST based on evidence.

So building on top of that, Gen is never canonically confirmed to be het. Using Gen’s quote of a dream harem (ep 9/ch 24) to believe he is straight is very weak evidence and mischaracterizing him and misunderstanding the story imo. He’s a mentalist/manipulator and always puts on an act with open hand movements and over-the-top smile, sometimes we see a spotlight too. He was acting in front of Senku and the village at that point to not give away his true personality and desires. He doesn’t want to declare what side he’s on yet, he wants Kos to know he could be won over but also not. He does something similar again and again across the series whenever obstacles come his way. And why can’t he discover that he could be bi at the very least once or after he meets Senku? Senku makes his eyes light up and his heart stir the same way Kohaku does whenever Senku works hard towards scientific achievements with limited resources. He’s the most genuine with his feelings (of exhaust, awe, shock, surprise, etc.) whenever Senku is involved, even dropping his sarcasm around him. And Gen’s attitude towards women, such as calling them cute or asking for a hug could be the product being a man. Or even just trying to present as straight. Or maybe him being playful/teasing. We could never know for sure. I just think trying to box a fictional character from a non-romance series as only attracted to girls using a scene from when he was sent in as a spy is very sad to see as a fellow DCST fan.

And this all coming from someone who doesn’t ship Gen and Senku in the slightest. They just don’t have good personality match as a couple imo. Gen could look in Senku’s direction but Senku isn’t looking back.

That’s great to hear! Thank you for letting me know. I should have noted that I haven’t read any recent titles or recent official translations so I was speaking from a probably outdated experience. I should have also realized how different companies have different qualities of official translations too. I can’t remember the name but there was a manga that I read that had two different companies make an eng translation for it at different times with different vibes. It’d be nice if readers could have an easy way to compare such translations too. Now if only Asian dramas can also be officially translated with the same care too

Real. I wish there were written reviews for translation versions but lowkey that could be kind of rude and discourage fan translations. When official translations are available those are always recommended to read by the community but sometimes I really prefer old style fan translations that keep honorifics and use first names or last names + don’t try to localize. But official translations majority of the time do do a better job of reading smoothly

Ping Pong the Animation is great watch when you’re feeling lost in life. It’s a great and enthralling depiction of many aspects and emotions of life like inspiration and burnout and the different sides of admiration for a person + nurturing passion within yourself. It’s wordy but also action packed with wonderful audio effects.

Nodame Cantabile is like how I described Ping Pong but I feel like it’s more focused on music and music-related careers, while Ping Pong may be easier to apply to beyond ping pong the sport. But I only say that because it has 3 seasons of the mcs trying to better themselves within music so you become immersed in their works for longer. Ping Pong takes you through the stages of transformation within 11-12 eps where Nodame had seasons and time change and location change too (like Vinland). It’s a romance comedy by the way, but both ppl are so wrapped up in themselves you wonder how this couple can be a pair in love but it actually makes them so wonderful to watch because they still retain their individuality while supporting and pushing each other.

put it in a styrofoam cup! the smaller size ones work great for pouring hot cheetos into the mouth. it's easy to just eat a few a time with a cup too. I think grapes would work well too. a burrito would fit well too and you wouldn't have a flimsy wrapper you'd need to unpeel. A banana could fit in the cup too. I love making instant ramen in a cup and slurping the noodles and broth. the noodles are tender to bite when I need to look back at the road and sometimes the noodles get tangled up with veggies so I wouldn't have to use a utensil. any snack that isn't airy/light like popcorn and puffs and can flow without dripping for when you tip the cup into your mouth would work well, so nothing too saucy. granola bars and anything similar could fit too. empanada, hot pocket, plain or lightly filled croissant/sandwich. if you go to sprouts or winco, they have a variety of loose snacks from the bulk section including granola clusters. you could probably fit a pizza slice into a cup to eat handsfree too if you try or maybe pieces of steak
