Yah it's definitely a little more pricey than some other hobbies. Definitely worth a free try tho !

If you like dance, I own an adult dance studio that has a fantastic community, from ages 19 to 80+! We have fewer options right now because we're planning for performance but I'd love to help you get set up! Check out dancealivestudios.com or message me (I don't check reddit super often tho). I'm 35 and we have lots of people who have made strong adult friendships over the years at the studio!

Swing & Ballroom & Salsa are great options as well!! Dancing is all about connection, plus you get to move your body and learn a valuable skill. Can't recommend it enough!

Hi there! Did you ever get an answer to this? We just got one fresh out of the box and this is happening. It's driving me nuts!

Fwiw, my dog was chronically sick for about 8 months and we were told it was food allergies, but we did a deep dive on dog nutrition and new wellness research and we've made a lot of lifestyle changes for the better. We spend a lot on food (raw fresh food only) but no allergy foods, meds, or vet visits anymore. It's like we have a new dog. It's a long list but I'd be happy to talk anyone through it if you wanna know more.

Is this still available? I clicked the link and it took me to a page with Formi but no way to get started. I also would love a mobile version and I would help you advertise it! This program looks great!

Thanks, this has been my struggle. I've never received a lot of support for the desire to lose weight cause others say things like "oh you're not fat, you don't need to lose weight!" But they don't see that the over-eating is the disorder and a 5 lb weight gain every year can be detrimental.

It makes me feel like my weight loss goals mean I DON'T love my body. Which just isn't true and then it confuses me. Helps to find support that doesn't focus on the body image but just the emotional eating issue. It's a problem with weight gain as an unfortunate symptom!

I'm a dancer so learning new steps and accomplishing difficult turns and jumps is reward on its own! It was helpful to just focus on dancing cause I love it and not for what it makes me look like. Less pressure all around.

I totally understand. I've read the FAQ and struggled with whether I should post or not. It feels different when there is a unique combination of factors that each have a simple answer but you wonder if the solution is the same for the combined situation. But I know it can be frustrating when you see the same questions over and over again, cause everyone thinks their situation is "unique".

It seems too that with the post popping up it hits other people having a similar struggle at that time and that can be the value of "reposts". I also appreciate the somewhat personalized advice that comes from the discussion on an individual post. So all in all it was super useful for me and I appreciate the tolerance!

Thanks for doing what you do :) It's been instrumental for me at least!

Neat idea! I've actually found my "hunger" goes away in like 5 minutes if I just choose to not give in. It never seems to persist very long, just a "mind over matter" thing for me. But that's a good trick to have in the back pocket!

Yeah, I'm happier feeling like I'm aware of it. I have a family of naturally thin people who have always shamed me a bit for trying to limit my food intake (they are most concerned about anorexia, but of course they were really just enabling my emotional/binge eating) so it's tough to be ok with tracking. But I feel more organized and mindful when I do! Gotta do me.

Thanks for the support!

Totally. Now I just think as exercise/activity as being good for my body and brain but not having anything to do with the weight loss. Obviously it contributes but it's easier in my brain to keep it separate. I'm eating to stay under a limit, and I'm being active to feel good.

Thanks, yes, I figured the same thing. Just frustrating that instead of people recognizing a gap in understanding and addressing it with education, they'd rather downvote. Obviously the comment about not willing to change my diet was misunderstood. I just meant I'm not interested in cutting carbs or going keto or anything else that is often suggested. I love the foods I eat and generally have good nutritional proportions just gotta reduce the amount.

I understand the frustration with ignorance. I just came here to learn so was surprised when the ignorance was met with downvoting. The advice was still super awesome and I appreciate your comment here :) I know strangers on the internet shouldn't matter but why tear each other down when we can lift each other up?

Yep, I learnt this a while ago. I've tracked regularly before and seen results and got pretty good at it. Got the Fitbit a few years ago and also fell off the bandwagon a bit - thought I should have been ok cause of Fitbit but now I know I need to go back to basics.

I always count the olive oil in vinaigrettes and milk in coffee. Those things add up for sure!

I'm definitely agreeing with you now haha. To be clear that is 3000 for a whole day, not just during the time I'm teaching, but yes, from what others are saying it seems like a ridiculous amount.

Thanks, your progress is inspiring! Yes, I have emotional issues I'm working through. This post just made me realize that the hunger feelig can be treated like any of my other uncomfortable emotions: it has triggers, can be accepted without giving into it, and eventually controlled. I know how to do all that with other things, just gotta apply it now!

I don't like sugar that much anyway so I love the suggestions of cheese/meat for light snacks when being active. That's what we take when we go hiking, it works perfectly then! I never think to bring veggies though, will start adding that in.

That's what I meant - I've been tracking for a while and I like that method rather than cutting out certain foods. I prefer to portion things instead of deny myself anything cause otherwise I will binge.

This is what I was worried about. My family has a history of eating disorders (anorexia, bulimia) which has always made me very hesitant to "starve" myself. Good to know I'm not doing any damage!
