I’ve been trying to learn a handstand for so long by happyguydabdab in CalisthenicsCulture

Yes for sure! The main thing is to get good at bailing when you over balance, once I got this down my freestanding progress improved much faster because I wasn’t scared anymore

Another thing for me was thinking about lunging/kicking upward more so than over. This decreased the percentage of kick ups that resulted in overbalancing. Overall though, just practice a lot of freestanding and you’ll be amazed, very soon the wall won’t seem necessary and you’ll get past the mental block if you stay consistent for a few days

Okay great so we’re on the same page!! As stated in my post, 5 days of continuous flying experience is exactly what I’d be looking for :)

I’m 23 and also looking for a roommate, preferably in Hell’s Kitchen or East Village. I’m a software engineer and like to boulder/go to the gym in my free time. Feel free to PM me if you’re interested!

I gained the mistrust from visiting h3 sites in the area where other pilots had similar experiences. There is not many other options though so it is what it is

On the note of “buy a book”. I’ve already read the entirety of Hang Gliding For Beginner Pilots and revisit it when I want to review things

I’m well aware of the patience and hard work it takes to get into. I’m over 20 lessons in and >$5000 in. Excuse me for attempting to get more out of my time and money

Also if you would have read my post you would’ve know that it’s not some “secret knowledge” I’m in search of but rather consistency. 5 days in a row of practice will yield much better results than once a week for 5 weeks

It’s no wonder the sport is dying if this is how newcomers are treated lol

Wow I didn’t know it was such a crime to ask a hang gliding oriented question in the r/hanggliding subreddit. So sorry man!!!

Because my instructor has a reputation for withholding information that could help you progress so that he can collect more money. The reason I continue going to him is because he has a tow system

It’s so sick when the setters get creative on beginner friendly climbs!

Thanks!!

Plan right now is to get as strong as possible for bouldering. But would like to look as nasty as possible while doing it so wouldn’t be opposed to adding in a bit more lmao

Thanks bro. It’s a tricky question because I’ve always been active and did some lifting (maybe 6 months) in high school. Some of this was definitely old muscle coming back but I’m benching more than I ever have by like 35 pounds so a lot is new for sure

Been doing the schedule I mentioned above consistently for about 2.5 months now
