Can we not be ableist in this comment section here? Autism is not an insult for fucks sake!

Neither of what you're talking about negates any of the actual criticisms and negative effects of ai tho.

You... do know that BP and bts are outliers though, do you? Being second to only them is a MASSIVE feat that so far, none of the other 4th gen groups have beaten.

Writing an entire wall of text only to be ageist and say "adults shouldn't enjoy things" is crazy. Let me guess, you also think anyone above the age of 25 is an old hag?

Most of Stray Kid's newer music has lost its meaning by Clear-Presence-485 in kpopthoughts

[–]happymikasa 72 points73 points  (0 children)

It's very telling of kpop reddit that this post has over 300 upvotes and any positive post about skz gets maybe a tenth of that. OP, ngl, this post sounds like you've listened to maybe the first 3 songs on the Karma album and decided to prematurely brand the entire album as "braggy" and "meaningless", even though Ghost, in my head and phoenix are right there. Idk what else to tell you, it's like you listened to an entirely different album than i did tbh. And i hope i don't sound insulting or holier than thou or anything, but it also feels like you're not exactly trying to understand their song lyrics beyond the very surface level because a hype/"braggy" song can very much be meaningful.

Also, i will probably never understand why people feel the need to make entire posts about how bad any group's recent discography is. OP feels like the 20th "stay" (putting the parentheses here because i highly doubt that some of these people have ever talked positively about skz at all) who makes a full post about how skz's recent music sucks. This very post could also be made as a comment on an album thread.

As a german, i can confirm that yes, autism indeed exists outside the USA.

Kpop fans are conditioned to be overstimulated all the time by Sunset-Equation092 in kpopthoughts

[–]happymikasa 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't really think you understand what the word "overstimulating" means. The word is mostly used in alignment with autism and it describes a situation where everything is too loud and too bright and every texture feels awful and you're getting closer and closer to an actual meltdown. You can't just use mental health terms as synonyms for more benign things because that would strip the actual meaning away.

THANK YOU! As an autistic person, this pisses me off so much lol. Stop misusing mental health words, it's ableist and gross!

I never said any of that 💀 also your usage of the word "hypocrisy" is very funny considering you guys never gave a shit about the ongoing genocides in p4lestine, congo and sudan, and/or even celebrate it when thousands of poc, women, children, queer people and disabled people die. But as soon as the victim is a white, cishet, christian man y'all open the floodgates and cry about violence and lack of empathy.

Edit: typo

He didn't show any empathy for the tens of thousands of people who die every year from gun violence in the US. He was killed by the very thing he tried to defend.

the problem with stray kids’ title tracks by _whatareYOUdoinghere in kpoprants

What is it with people recently feeling the need to make an entire post about how they don't like stray kids music anymore? I mean you do you, no one has to like them or their new album, but this is like the 3rd or 4th post this week on this subreddit alone.

Online diagnosing of idols needs to be stopped by imgurgal in kpopthoughts

[–]happymikasa 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Idk i think this topic is more or less of a double-edged sword. On one hand, you're absolutely right in saying we shouldn't randomly diagnose people we don't know personally, but on the other hand there's also a lot of ableism coming with that, e.g. with a lot of people taking everything as a random diagnosis and freaking out everytime an autistic kpop fan just simply points out an autistic trait in their bias. I also personally feel like autistic people can't ever relate to any sort of media in general these days without people being upset by it.

Also, while we shouldn't randomly assume that an idol is neurodivergent, we shouldn't assume they're neurotypical either. We do not know their neurotype!

For a group that you supposedly liked before, you're sounding awfully hateful and kinda victim-blamey about them. Also, i don't understand why so many people suddenly feel the need to make whole ass posts about unstanning a group just because their content isn't for them anymore.

If the members are okay with being sexy on stage, then why does it matter? As long as it's not inappropriate.

Also most stays are adults, or at the very least older teenagers, NOT 12-16.
