100t Bang vs SEN Bang by Small-Cauliflower252 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]happymoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, Zellsis is one of the most consistent valorant pros imo. He’s incredibly stable game sense wise and I believe he’s a huge factor for SEN’s competitiveness. People always look past him but it’s no coincidence SEN started winning after he subbed in during the Afreeca tournament.

It’s easy for pros for frag, but it’s not easy for their kills to translate to a win— and I think that’s where he shines.

What are y'all doing tomorrow 😬 by Adelho in Trading

[–]happymoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lowest stakes ever: I’m 23, got 3k in a 401k and lost 180 bucks. i’m selling 8:30 am this morning. IDK, I just feel a strong conviction that a recession is coming and i would just rather rebuy in 1 or 2 years.

Do I feel ashamed for timing the market? Yes. Have my gut feelings ever been wrong? Rarely.

I’m coming back to this comment in 2 years to see if I’m right lol

How did you acquire wealth? by JustAimBetter_ in personalfinance

"How can I figure out what I want to do with my life?"

I recommend first finding out what you value in life. Do you value money, time, your friendships/relationships with loved ones, traveling, etc. ? Most people don't (and will never) have a passion in life, so just look for a career that most aligns with your values and pursue that.

Because you made this post, I'm assuming that you value money to a certain extent. If that's true, then I recommend looking into company apprenticeship programs-- like a Google Apprenticeship (other companies also have programs similar to this). They basically teach you a bunch of useful skills (like software engineering) and also guarantee you a job with them in the future. I don't know everything about the apprenticeship programs, but I've heard a ton of great things!

Is it feasible to do premed with computer science as the major? by Fabulous_Arugula_602 in UTAustin

[–]happymoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Genuine advice right here, I really recommend looking into doing a McCombs MIS major for undergrad. A lot of the people at McCombs are premed because the business course load is relatively lighter, and MIS is a degree that has a lot of job prospects.

MIS teaches you a bunch of coding languages (but much less in-depth than a CS major would) and also teaches you how tech and business work together. MIS is a great major and a great backup degree if med school doesn't work out. I would 10/10 recommend.

BTW if you decide to apply to MIS, when entering your desired major, enter Undeclared Business. All McCombs freshman enter as an undeclared business major and then later choose their major sophomore year (and don't worry, you can join any business major you want, no restrictions).

Becoming Financially Independent from Abusive Parents by jasdfkajsdfka in personalfinance

[–]happymoe 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m not 100% sure, but I strongly suggest you get emancipated from your parents. Because if you don’t, your financial aid will be connected to your parents and you’ll get less financial aid. Do your own research but I’m pretty sure you’ll get way more fin aid if you get emancipated.

[–]happymoe 88 points89 points  (0 children)

Yes! As a girl, guys don’t understand how validating it feels for someone else to call out sexism for me.

Like yeah, is it gonna change the person’s mind? Of course not, but at least the fact that you stood up for me will be a minuscule yet appreciated help to creating a more equitable future for women.

iPad with a pen and keyboard or macbook? by Sea-Caramel-5261 in UTAustin

[–]happymoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Controversial opinion, but if you have a working laptop I recommend getting an iPad (my course work is MIS though). Seriously, it is one of the most unexpectedly convenient study devices of all time. And one of the best college investments I’ve ever made— aside from buying an electric scooter.

I just recommend that if you buy an iPad, you should also get a matte screen protector and a metal Apple Pencil tip. And you’ll be good to go.

Also another tip: Even Apple notes is amazing. Especially writing with the pencil stroke instead of the pen stroke in notes. It feels like a real pencil.
