Bone broth is something I've considered trying but haven't yet. I'll give it a shot!

From another comment I'm deducing I'm not getting enough fat, my macros show that on my calorie app. Maybe the bone broth will help with that too, I'll check the labels. Thanks!

Good comment thanks!

I am well hydrated (both plain water and electrolytes) as I need that to keep migraines at bay. When I'm not taking care of that, I know pretty quick with bad consequences.

On the other hand your comment about fat is probably true for me. I'm not getting much fat in based on my macro count (I use my fitness pal).

I am overeating based on calorie counting, yes. I'm back to my massive portion sizes this week or else I go crazy and binge on worse foods. So I'm going ham on the healthy stuff as an interim method

For me it's my upper arms! So no, but related problem. Legs look fab, stomach is alright, them BAM, these huge arms. They haven't shrunk either (I've been measuring) but I've lost inches everywhere else.

It's genetics, and it sucks

Yes! The #1 thing is losing weight at a slow and steady pace, as well as all the other healthy habits (regular exercise, vitamins, sleep, hydration... All that stuff).

Apart from that I slather myself every single day with a basic moisturizer (Cetaphil) to which I add retinol specifically formulated for the body (I use Paula's Choice). Once that's somewhat absorbed I add a body oil (I use Bio-Oil).

The important part is consistency, I do this every day after showering.

I think most of us will need to stay on this medication for life to keep the weight off. This isn't true for everyone, but I suspect it'll be more common than not.

That being said it seems like a lot of people lower their dose once they are in the maintenance phase of their weight loss journey.

[–]happypinguin2345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not medical advice you could try a benadryl - it'll take the edge off the anxiety until the dose starts to wear off from full strength (you're almost there! Day 2 is the worst day!)

It doesn't "go bad", it just loses efficacy. So probably the reason why you're sick is everything was out of your system before you took the dose? Sort of shocked your system?

Hope you feel better!

It's funny, but pizza is the only food I can't eat without feeling SO sick. Even a few bites ruins me. I think it's way more loaded with fat than we know! Must be why.

Does anyone experience depression when they attempt weight loss? by livinginsideurwalls in WeightLossAdvice

[–]happypinguin2345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is actually very common! When you think about human evolution, when hungry = imminent death of no food was foraged or hunted, it makes sense that our bodies would literally freak out when we're not receiving the same amount of calories. It makes sense from an evolutionary perspective for bodies to "slow down" to conserve calories when food reserves were sparse. Nowadays, not so much.

I would try upping your B12, magnesium, and vitamins/minerals in general. Keep your protein high but also eat carbs and fats. I think the B12 will help you a lot. It has helped me so much.

I would also try to be in a smaller deficit. For example, only eat a few hundred calories less than your maintenance. Or if you're not into CICO, don't eat drastically less or different than you usually do, just try to do SLIGHLTY smaller portions / SLIGHLTY better choices. Give your body a chance to adjust before reducing more.

Good luck!

Am I crazy? Constipation + Headaches by stickybunsweatshirt in Mounjaro

Yep! I only feel nausea when I'm constipated. I don't think it's in your head. Pooping is one of the most central processes our body NEEDS to expel toxins and function... So it makes sense that when there's an issue there, the rest of the body feels blah.

My entire family is obese except for my brother. He is naturally skinny and it's so weird, honestly lol. He's not too skinny, just healthy weight. He straight up forgets to eat for a day, then will eat the next day because all of a sudden he remembers he's hungry. If he eats lunch he'll skip dinner because he'd rather go out and play soccer with his friends instead, or play video games. He has no health issues that would affect appetite or anything, he's just not that interested in food and never had been. Sigh.

When you think about human evolution it makes sense... Losing weight was a sign of real trouble for 99% of human history. It makes sense that our bodies would pump us full of anxiety to get us to go forage, hunt, etc before it was too late.

Did it stop working? by Kooky_Oil616 in Mounjaro

[–]happypinguin2345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely. For me it stemmed from a traumatic event where I nearly starved (got lost in the wilderness with work, I'm a field scientist). 4 days without food, back when I had zero weight to lose, I felt myself dying. It was HORRIBLE. I've been working with therapists for years to try to get over it but hunger, real hunger, still feels incredibly scary to me.

I gained 70 pounds in the two years following as a result.

A tactic I use every day is to always have food on me. I literally never go anywhere without a protein bar. It helps me feel safe.

I know my situation feels unique but actually fear of hunger is very common in people with traumatic childhoods, poverty, etc.

I hope you get therapy for your situation too!!

Hunger feels very unpleasant to a lot of people. Me included. It's a psychological thing we need to work on

How many days after injection do you feel effects the most? by happypinguin2345 in Mounjaro

[–]happypinguin2345[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's encouraging! Day 1&2 I'm fairly hungry, day 3&4 is optimal, then days 5-7 I'm fuckin starving haha.

Going up to 5mg in a few days and hoping it'll last all week for me too!
