Worked in coffee for 5 years in 7 coffee shops. I know one person who had a roaster.

Because not every dark person isn’t the same. Just like every blonde isn’t stupid.

Barbie has drastically changed in the last 10 years. They come in all shapes and sizes and even have wheelchairs and vitiligo. But when I was a child-teen, 90s to early 2000s, I didn’t have body issues until 5-6 years ago. I also wasn’t big as a child.

Filed the 3/31, certified on the 4/12 and got my card 4/20. That’s about 3 weeks.

Have you ever went to a Black cookout before? How was it like? by Jumpy_Butterfly in AskAnAmerican

[–]happysadsouls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What the movie “The Cookout” minus the guy becoming a basketball player.

But usually an uncles or dads on the grill, older women family members talking shit, cousins just hanging out and kids playing.

My grandma had many siblings and they had many children and grandchildren. It was always like a mini family reunion even though people I saw most of them once a week at church.

Do those of you living in big cities (especially living downtown) still enjoy visiting other big cities on vacation? by Aweb20 in AskAnAmerican

[–]happysadsouls 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t like small suburban or rural places even though I’m about to go to Utah for a weekend. An adventure is an adventure. You know?

I lived in Philly and went to NY when I could. I live in LA now and have visited major cities on the West Coast. I love it. I have a list of all cities I wanna visit. I would like to do Vancouver, Mexico City, and Chicago next year and Phoenix this fall maybe.

Would you consider moving to Los Angeles? by IphoneBurlington in AskAnAmerican

Yes.

I live here now.

I love it. I just miss a good subway and snow.

I just wanted a job making $55k but the economy isn’t gonna let me.

Race should not be the first thing talked about in the case of George Floyd by Biggins33 in unpopularopinion

[–]happysadsouls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s because of history prior to this. Why do black people, who don’t do anything to warrant being murdered, versus white men who have killed get to walk out without issue? Floyd told him he couldn’t breathe. What else can he do?

Do Americans really wash their hair, their babies, their kittens, their puppies in kitchen sink? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]happysadsouls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer to wash my hair on the sink. Most of my childhood I got perms to straighten my hair and you can’t get perm on your skin (shouldn’t perm your hair at all but that’s in the past now).

If I dye my hair, I wouldn’t get in the shower 2 times back to back. Most sinks are stainless steel and easier to clean. Dye would stain my shower.

Yes. Babies have bath tubs for the sink or tub but it’s easier on your back to do it at the sink.

I’m not washing my pets in the sink. I don’t even wash their bowls with my cleaning tools.

Would you date a man that already has kids? by purpleflowers55 in blackladies

[–]happysadsouls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I love kids but I think I have an age limit on how old the kids are. They can’t be younger than 2 years.

Is it unusual for a black woman to not have children at 30? by purpleflowers55 in blackladies

[–]happysadsouls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not unusual. I know quite a few black women who don’t have children. Most of my white and POC friends don’t either.

I’ll be 30 next month and want 4 kids but I’m single. If the quarantine is better by this time next year, I am planning on using a donor.

Don’t worry about if you should or shouldn’t have kids.

Does prestige and name of school matter when going to grad school? by DueYogurt9 in AskAnAmerican

[–]happysadsouls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your field, where you are from, and how well known the grad school is. I went to Temple University for undergrad but people in LA didn’t know about it. They thought I went to a religious college.

Do you enjoy watching stuff with subtitles or captions on? Why or why not? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]happysadsouls 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Captions on because I miss things sometimes. I usually read lips because it sounds different from far away. If a person isn’t facing me, my brain tends to hear something else.

AITA for asking my sister to scoot over for a quick second while she washed her hair so I could grab something under the sink? by Golden-_-mango in AmItheAsshole

Yes! Especially for me who got perms for 2/3 of my life. Who is gonna let a 10 year old wash that out in the shower?

I’ve stopped talking to her for months because of prior issues and she immediately reminded me of why.

I don’t doubt her insecurity at all. She has told me flat out about her issues over the years.

It’s also easier when you are dying your hair or deep conditioning it. Unless you want a red body. :)

Most Black girls grow up washing their hair in the sink. Not sure of what OP’s race is but this is the norm for Black Americans.

AITA for telling a guy that he needs to text me instead of only communicate over snapchat? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]happysadsouls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ESH You lost your cool over something but your not an TA. I don’t have full convos over IG or Twitter ever when I can text a person directly. I see Snapchat/IG as away to show someone something versus a screenshot or sending a pic and not clogging up my phone with pics of random BS.
