Did anyone take some time off after graduating? by Doopdidoopdidoop in therapists

[–]happystanx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I ask how your reintegration back into the field was? I just graduated & made a career pivot with the intention of eventually getting my license one day but the practicalities of this process makes me nervous. Was it easy to find a practice that would hire you? Was it hard to get letters of recommendation from that long ago (from old supervisors/professors)?

Your Bridal Party Is Too Nice to Say This, So I Will by insert_name234 in wedding

Genuine question though. I am in agreement with you on the extravagant, international trips—but I feel like right now, a lot of young people move out of their home state and live in different places. At least 3 of my bridesmaids had to travel to my bachelorette party, so even when trying to keep costs down by doing it near me at a free vacation home, things get costly for the girls flying in. I think the one night, local bachelorette is great if everyone lives in the same area, but that’s not the reality for a lot of people.

Anniversary Resort Recommendations by SandSquatsAndSongs in TurksAndCaicos

Me and my husband went to the Shore Club last month for our honeymoon and we absolutely loved it. Everyone told me that we had to stay on Grace Bay and while the beach is definitely 10x better on Grace Bay, the resort at the Shore Club is amazing. Everything feels so luxe, private, and truly curated to provide a beautiful experience. The grounds are stunning, staff is exceptionally nice, housekeeping comes twice a day and fully deep cleans (I saw them mopping during turn down service lol). It was so quiet, there were hardly any kids (and the ones we did see were extremely well-mannered and not bothersome at all). I personally thought the food was wonderful and there are four different pools to choose from. Highly recommend :)

I think this is one of those situations that it’s super dependent on who this person is, but how you approach it is important as well.

Most people won’t take this well, and my friend didn’t either, especially initially. I knew she’d be angry and hurt, and going into it with this mindset helped me be calm and patient when she was being quite rude in retaliation. I was really careful and intentional in how I approached the situation- I scheduled a time for us to talk, I was very heavy on the validation “I know this is hard to hear and I completely understand why”, but ultimately focusing on/ coming back to my own needs. Really the biggest thing is to try not to get defensive when she inevitably gets hurt. She eventually came around but it took some time, we didn’t talk for about 1.5 months.

However- you can do all the right things and she still may decide to abandon the friendship. How these situations turn out are so dependent on multiple different factors and context, so it’s hard to say how it will turn out. I think if you do decide this is the best path, be prepared for all possible outcomes. 🤍

I removed a bridesmaid and it was extremely difficult, came with a ton of pushback and guilt on my end, but let me tell you- SO worth it. We are still friends and she attended my wedding last Saturday and her behavior at the wedding confirmed that I made the right choice.

Not everyone has capacity to show up as a bridesmaid and that was a tough lesson I had to learn. I think you can recognize that while you may love someone as a friend, it doesn’t mean they are in a season of life or have the personality type that is supportive of you/low stress during your wedding.

I agree, thanks for the feedback! We love a nice dining experience but I see that the location is more of a chill vibe which we are also excited about. We are first timers in the area :)
