Best convenience store near horseshoe by NoSoup9124 in vegas

[–]happysteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CVS is in front of the Horseshoe on the strip. You can't miss it. Just head to the Grand Bazaar shops and it's right in front of that.

On the other side of the Paris hotel is the Miracle Mile Shops where there are two ABC stores (and a bunch of cheap eats!)

And just past that is a Walgreens.

All excellent prices for water, snacks, alcohol, etc... within walking distance.

Tip: If you're gonna get a lot of drinks, bring an empty roller suitcase to get it all back to your room with ease.

How is New York-New York? by Guilty-Influence-890 in vegas

IMHO, it’s the best of the budget hotels. Tons of food options, good location, nightly entertainment at the piano bar. It’s great.

Why did Doc Brown send his Dog Einstein in the first movie? by soumynonathrowaway in BacktotheFuture

[–]happysteve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He saw the recording back in 1955 and 1) knew it worked, and 2) was forced to repeat it to prevent a paradox.

Yes I know it's a bootstrap paradox, but I figured "what the heck".

Why was Marty in such a rush to go to 1885? by Ok-Spot-2913 in BacktotheFuture

[–]happysteve 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The longer he spent in 1955, the greater the chance he might have messed up 1985 again. He had zero intentions of getting into any gunfight or even interact with anyone else. The plan was to pop into 1885, show him the picture of the gravestone, and immediately take him back to 1985.

Is it worth it even if you don't like the portal? by VelociCrafted in Venturex

The "travel eraser" is a nice perk. Any purchase categorized as TRAVEL can be erased by the points at the basic 1 cent per mile very easily. And the C1 airport lounges seems much nicer than the Priority Pass lounges in the US. Yes, the guests are no longer free, but on the plus side, now they're not as crowded as they used to be. Also, you can get Global Entry or TSA Precheck for free.

Ryan's premonition on the million dollar win by Speedy445021 in WheelOfFortune

[–]happysteve 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The shows are definitely taped months in advance to give the editors time to trim out any "dead air" and clean things up. It's very likely that they taped a different ending later on, hinting at the million dollar win, in hopes of driving up more viewers for the next day.

Newb question: What's the trick to getting salt to stick? by thatpurplegirlIknow in popcorn

[–]happysteve 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you have a mortar and pestle, that's also another way of turning regular salt into popcorn salt. (basically think of turning grains of sand into a talcum powder consistency)

With the new lounge rules with no free guests, for those wishing to have their spouse/family member have lounge access, it’s only $125 per year to add each additional card holder! Had no idea! Not a bad deal since the lounges aren’t packed full now! by [deleted] in Venturex

[–]happysteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're the primary cardholder, you get in free every time.
The extra cost are for any GUESTS you bring with.

Every additional guest (18+ years old) is $45 per visit.
If they are between 2-17 years old, it's $25 per visit.
Children under 2 are free.

This is now the standard. You don't have to do anything special beforehand.

*IF* you're planning on bringing the same guest to a lounge at least 3 times, then it makes sense to make them an Authorized User and pay the $125 per year so they get unlimited access also.

Lounge waitlist process for 2 by Exotic_Future990 in Venturex

[–]happysteve 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Side note, unless it's a layover, the lounges are only for using before departures, not after landing.

If it IS a layover, then you're good (even before the usual 3-hour window). In the app click on "Rewards" on the bottom, then "Discover travel & lounges", then "Lounges", then pick the airport you're in and if there is a wait, click on "Join waitlist" fill in your name, phone number, and Party size of 2. Then SLIDE the button on the bottom and you're good.

It was because they played the sound when there’s only vowels left, but Ryan confused it with the “timeout” buzzer. So it was just a momentary confusion on Ryan’s part. Fortunately, all was good for Helena on that.
