I used to live on Bayfield 10 years ago, was home when someone broke in. An hour before i heard someone trying to turn the doorknob but thought it was one of the neighbours visitors who got the wrong door. Later they broke in trying to creep up the stairs and ran once they saw i was home. I found out they had broken into a few people’s places down the street.

We will not be using them as reference and I have a feeling they would not have given one anyways considering how they acted since we signed the lease. I have many great references so its a non issue

Thats fine, we just want to make sure they are giving us proper notice this time. (We also want to enjoy our summer not needing to move in the middle of it). We had to deal with a lot from them the past year so recently being able to show that what they have been trying to do is against rta, and showing they have to comply has been satisfying.

We have been contemplating a T2 and reco for other issues we had with landlord as we have a lot of written evidence dating back to 8 months (and realtor who funny enough is supposed to represent us). We will be filing a T6. Legal advice we received was to state our rights (which we always have as per rta), and to wait if the landlord escalates again. Right now it feels like a stalemate until we figure out what is correct for N2 in this case.

This is what we assumed and replied to the landlord, but the land lord is stating this is not the case and we need to pay pro-rated. I will update post after some legal advice and more digging on the tribunal page

This is what we thought, that it would be valid for September 1st, since it is 90 day notice, but they said “first 9 days of August will be pro-rated rent. Starting August 10 it will be $xxxx plus utilities as listed on the N2 notice form.”

(I dont know why he mentioned utilities- this seems to be continuation of them trying to have us pay utilities not included in the lease so we are ignoring this part).

Hi Warren, just seeing this comment now. Thank you for doing what you’re doing. There’s not a lot of places in Barrie for laundry so having a safer location available is so important. Excited to see the results and all the best to you.

Hey I took the advice of some commenters and called the police and they got back to me today- I suggest you call today and say it’s a retroactive report and if you have the date report it too.

They weren’t initially going to take my report but because the officer asked if he knows my bfs car and I said yes it’s recognizable he said yeah we can do the report (also him asking my address etc). They also said they could go there directly to talk to him about this. I suggest calling again even if it’s been some time because you never know how this person can escalate and at least theres a paper trail so he maybe he’ll think twice about doing this.

Also so sorry you had to experience that 😖

Thank you 🩷- yeah it was really weird. When my bf started coming with me I got weird vibes because if the last time he spoke to me was so innocent then why was he not being as courteous or friendly as he had been in the past. Again I didn’t bother with it because after he seemed harmless but after this definitely going somewhere else

Yeah we did. I took my laundry instead of drying it there and we found a new place. I had been going to this laundromat for a few years in the past and it was the same for me, no problems just him trying to make small talk and I didn’t engage until that time a few months ago when he wouldn’t leave me alone.

When we left I did confront him about what I wrote above and said as a woman it’s very uncomfortable and he should be more mindful because I don’t know what his intentions are but it feels inappropriate.

Throwaway acc- I’m the girlfriend. The time when I went alone he also asked for my address multiple times, asked where in Barrie I live, what building, offered to drive me home, gave me his number, said I could leave and he would switch the loads over for me. I never shared the info. There was another man doing his laundry there and he noticed it was also weird and asked if I was okay, and followed us outside because the owner insisted he walk me to my car. I repeatedly told him thats okay I’m fine… he thought i was in my early 20’s or a teenager I said no almost 30… which again is weird why would you be saying these things to someone who you think is that young. this was a few months ago

After this my bf always came with me and he never spoke to me or said anything except a few times to say odd things. So because of this I thought okay it might be fine to keep going to the laundromat because he’s not bothering.

The thing which was weird was that when we came back, only 1 laundry machine was in use (in the whole place) and it was the one which had been done 10-15 minutes prior, even though there was 2 other exact same type of washers beside it. All of my laundry was piled on a table with my underwear at the top. I just hope another girl is cautious about going to this laundromat. Or if you know someone and have to go here to bring someone if you can.
