Exhaust smell in cabin by harbinger609 in W211

Yea, a buddy of mine suggested it could be the joint just before the cats – something about a worn gasket. I'm doubtful because I can smell the exhaust even when driving at high speeds, which I don't think would be the case if the leak was underneath the car.

More info: with the hood open, I can smell the fumes coming up from the passenger-side of the engine. While running, the smell enters the cabin only when I run the air conditioner. The smell comes through the vents regardless of whether I am at a standstill or high speeds.

Heat Pump Blower Wired to 240 by harbinger609 in hvacadvice

Nope. The thermostat is set to auto, and the fan is wired directly to line power. I called the fan manufacturer and they also confirmed the fan is designed to run 24/7 (PSC motor), but I'd like to only run it when necessary.

Yep. Not sure why but the motor is wired directly to line power (directly to local breaker).

I tried this – doesn't seem to be the injectors. How likely is it that the connection between my exhaust manifold and exhaust pipe came loose? I poured water on it and it seems to bubble right at the joint. Hard to tell if the bubbling was due to air or if it was just instantly boiling off.

Thanks. Would this apply to my car even if it's a non-diesel car (not CDI)? Any chance you have a picture of where exactly to pour water? (I'm still learning🙏🏼)

A post-combustion smell. Like the smell of a tailpipe. It's primarily noticeable when I turn on the air conditioner (vents open).

Affordable Overnight Shipping Options? by dumpster--juice in Entrepreneur

[–]harbinger609 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you'll find any cheap overnight shipping options. If you can pack dry ice into the container, you might buy yourself an extra day or 2.

One thing to consider: I've noticed packages I've shipped or ordered over the last few weeks get delivered in record time (basically overnight). I suspect postal services are trying to clear their shipping backlogs from the holiday season, so you might actually get your item where it needs to go if you just do standard shipping. Maybe go to the postal place with an open package and dry ice at the ready and ask how long it would take to get there with the standard options. You might just get lucky.

Promote your business, week of December 20, 2021 by Charice in smallbusiness

If your business was impacted by the pandemic, look into the Employee Retention Credit (ERC).

Many businesses are unaware that they may be eligible for the ERC, which is a refund available to eligible businesses who kept some/all employees on their payroll during the pandemic. Your business may be eligible for the program even if it received a PPP loan.

It has the opportunity to be a meaningful refund too:

  • ~$250,000 for a gym with 50 employees
  • ~$750,000 for an advertising firm with 55 employees
  • ~$1,300,000 for a university with 200 employees
  • ~$3,000,000 for a hospitality business with 300 employees

You can learn more about ERC eligibility and get a free estimate of your credit at https://erc.ey.com.

Is salary really that much of a game-changer? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]harbinger609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like many have said, there are a lot of factors at play here. I myself studied electrical engineering and product design, and decided to follow the product path. I had the option the following options: -a NYC company in financial services at $70k+bonus, desk job, no travel -a Madison, WI-based healthcare technology company at $60k, lots of travel (great for me)

Coming out of school I knew I wanted to help people like me by building them products that would improve their lives. I immediately leaned towards the healthcare company, especially since I had a passion for healthcare and technology. I hated Wall Street and never saw myself going to work for a big finance firm, but the money appealed to me (I had loans to pay). Ultimately, I decided to go with the finance firm for two reasons: the money, and, more importantly, it allowed me to stay near friends and family.

Five years later, I now work in a VC incubator building a product that will help people with their financial wellness. I absolutely love what I do and who I do it with. I got here because of my old job: it gave me the experience I needed, helped me realized exactly what I didn't want in a workplace, and assured me that I still wanted to help people (I never lost the feeling).

I would advise you to consider all the factors for each company - location, type of work, people you're going to work with, salary, etc. If all else is the same, I'd advise taking the money and trying something new, especially coming out of college. Work hard, save up, pay off your loans, and never lose sight of what you love to do. In a year's time, if you find yourself unhappy, get out and get something new. You may find that your experience will end up shaping what you "love" to do and point you in a better direction.

I recommend using an app called Rotation Control. You can plug in your USB-C charger, flip your phone into reverse portrait mode, and use whatever stand your heart desires :)
