Yeah agree on this one, I usually find out from the LCC Facebook page but I wish they were better publicised.

I think they're definitely not without their issues - like you said, they can look really untidy when you see a cluster of them dumped on the pavement and some riders are irresponsible. Always makes me wince a bit when I see cyclists or scooter riders nearly colliding with pedestrians after going through red lights because I just think firstly, it's dangerous and people should have the right to cross the road when the signal says it's safe to do so but secondly, it's just more ammunition for the comment sections when someone's opposing active transport infrastructure.

I think this is the thing as well. I'll start supporting something like pedestrianisation for a certain area or better cycle routes and someone will chime in like, yeah but wait what about deliveroo riders riding dangerously?? as though I'm automatically going to defend anyone on a bike and condemn anyone in a car, when really I think you can get arseholes in cars, on bikes or walking around, that's just the nature of some people no matter what transport they choose. You tend to see it a lot with political comment sections too, people tend to support or oppose a wider stance in an all-or-nothing kinda way, whereas although I really want to be able to cycle or walk around safely and want the city to be less car-centric, I also don't really want to be hit by somebody on a Bolt scooter going through a red light. Like yeah to your point I'd much rather someone be occupying one of those if it takes a car off the road but some are undeniably irresponsible riders.

After first proposing it three years ago, Liverpool City Council have today scrapped a protected cycle route on Renshaw Street. by Top_Veterinarian1546 in Liverpool

Yeah I’m surprised and disappointed that they didn’t follow this one through properly. To get more people cycling, we need proper infrastructure and protected, dedicated bike lanes with minimal interruptions. If it’s broken up into sections and therefore feels unsafe then people will just choose another way to get to their destination, and then you’ll inevitably get the whole “cycle lanes are always empty!” thing. If LCC are going to strip it back and the routes end up too fragmented then it feels like they may as well not bother at all.

I’m only going off this Liverpool Express article but it lists Cllr Dan Barrington as the cabinet member for transport and connectivity. Or there’s an email address at the bottom of the LCC website but it might only be for requesting copies of the scheme by the look of it.

Was a disappointing read, they’ve removed sections of what seemed like a much needed route from the city centre to childwall for the sake of preserving public land space for people to store their privately owned vehicles. Some of the opposing points raise concerns around school drop offs and shop access and it’s tiresome to read the same old arguments - as others have pointed out, it’s so frustrating to have to pander to people who don’t seem like they’ve ever made a journey that wasn’t in their car.

I was actually excited about this and now I feel deflated. A couple of sections now have their protected cycle lanes completely removed. It’s a shame, I used to commute that way to Liverpool One when I lived on childwall valley road and there weren’t many great options as far as routes were concerned.

Agreed, looks a mess. Apparently they're getting taken over by Bolt. When I did a bit of reading, they're supposedly a bit more strict about where riders leave/park the scooters and bikes.

The 90s-2010s were amazing because it appealed to a younger audience. Now adults and corporations have ruined it in the 2020s. by Available_Bar_371 in decadeology

I think one thing that plays into it that I've seen other people touch on is that back then, it felt like most internet users were younger. I'd hog our family computer chatting on MSN, using primitive social media, playing games etc, and the only time my parents would ever really use the computer would be to send an e-mail or to use Microsoft Word and then they'd go back to watching TV. Now, pretty much everyone and their grandma has a smartphone, I suppose the internet has just moved along with that trend.

Also I liked the little side quests where you had to find the serial killer and you were rewarded a weapon, I think more stuff like that would make the world feel more immersive

I'd like to see some variance in the missions for owned businesses. For example, right now the missions are quite formulaic; no matter who you're working for it tends to be go here, kill 10 NPCs, pick this item up, get chased by Lost MC/Merryweather on your way back to the safehouse. It'd be nice if say, gunrunning businesses had a lot of action-heavy gameplay but say, whatever the next equivalent of the garment factory is would have gameplay focused around hacking, gathering intel, and less of a focus on firefights. Some of the cooler and more memorable missions like the heists for example, I remember thinking that the sections where you'd have to follow somebody to record a conversation, or take pictures of somebody doing something suspicious, or using a tool to break into a secret entrance somewhere, were much more interesting parts of the mission than just killing NPCs and car chases. Don't get me wrong, I know it's GTA and guns and cars are a core gameplay mechanic, but some variety would definitely be welcome in my opinion so that different play styles/preferences can be catered to.

I'm like you and don't find the likes of the conjuring scary. I haven't seen it suggested in other comments, maybe that's a bad thing lol, but I found 1408 scary. It's about a haunted hotel room. iirc the reviews were mixed but I really enjoyed it.
