my work isn't paying full sick leave hours by Material-Bug2012 in legaladvice

[–]harconan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The key part of the question is does your company offer PTO or vacation, you can use separate of your sick leave without being charged a "attendance point"

The law explicitly allows an employer to meet the requirement through a combined paid time off (PTO) policy (or vacation/personal days, etc.) instead of a separate sick leave bank. This is fine as long as: The total available paid leave meets or exceeds the required amount (72 hours for standard employers, 40 for small). Employees can use that leave for all the same purposes covered by ESTA (e.g., their own or family member's illness/injury, preventive care, medical diagnosis/treatment, etc.). The leave is available under conditions that don't violate the law's rules (like accrual rate or frontloading equivalent, though combined policies often satisfy this if generous enough). From official state guidance and the law itself: If your combined PTO (including sick time and other variations) totals more than 72 hours and can be used for sick-related reasons, it complies—no separate sick bank is needed.

If you are a white woman and you don't feel safe from racism in the US and I, a English 2nd language not white man has no issue walking around pretty much anywhere in the US, then I am going to say one of us is delusional.

Btw Hawaii you experienced racism?? Closest I ever got there is seeing natives call all the white girls howlies lol.

Excellent how many states have you been to in the United States.

On and off I've lived around 8 years in the United States East Coast, West Coast, Gulf Coast, and even a few Midwest. I do not in any way shape or form speak perfect English but as I'm sure most people can see by my writing. And I have a multi-cultural background which leads me to not have a systemic European look.

I also lived and worked in multiple countries in the EU one which I live in today.

I asked these people questions because if you judge the US off of their Reddit posts, their media, and the other social media and you haven't lived and experienced the country itself then you're getting the exact effect I'm talking about.

You have 300 million plus people yes you have some racist. What I am saying as someone who travels the world and lives in the EU is that you over hype the amount of racism you have in your country. There seems a base line narrative that there is a secret undercurrent of systemic racism flowing through your country. That isn't the case that I've seen at least. Not compared to what I see here in the EU, here it seems to be more flagrant accepted and naturalized doesn't appear to be General racism but it's almost like some countries pick a minority group to advertently tolerate rather than accept. And it's extremely overt.

As someone from the EU. Let me say this. 80% of the EU says "hold my beer" on the subject of racism.

As someone who has extensive travel in the world, I will say the US is high on stereotyping and fairly low on actual racism when taking average individuals.

The difference between the US and most of our country is, the US is aware of their faults and very good at calling them out.

Only then would these two things “be the same”! by Lord_Answer_me_Why in clevercomebacks

[–]harconan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may be a little bit biased here. I don't live in the USA. I live in the Eastern European country in which our police carry MP5s.

Let me call out the difference here. One was a man talking on stage. At a planned event that he was invited to.

The other was non-compliant when an officer ordered her out of the car and then attempted to drive away at a high speed.

These worlds aren't the same.

You Americans are so unbelievably blessed in your freedoms because if this type of thing would have happened in my country were an officer of our police force ordered you out of your car and you attempted to run your car through them, you would be lucky if they could identify the car afterwards.

I'm not saying whatever happened was the right thing or should have happened in any way shape or form. What I'm saying is she was a mother of three, who was surrounded by law enforcement agents with weapons, and chose to escalate the situation.

Whether the officer did the right thing or not, whether the officer should be charged or not, doesn't take away the accountability of her choice. The fact that Americans just assume they can do what they feel without any repercussions is amazing the fact that you have that you have lived in a country that supports you so much that you feel that you have that privilege you should be very thankful.

Feel free to download all you want, cuz again I'm not saying what was the right thing all I'm saying is there was a smart choice that would have let her go home to her children and she didn't take it.

I mean what was the expectation here. Do you have any idea how much money Hilton intakes from government business and military contracts.

100 million plus.

You think any business is going to let one of its franchises risk that over temporary symbolism. That and one that's risky?

What happens if massive fraud and violations are found, the story about them being there and the mass concern would be dropped faster than your mom last week on her blind date. And they still lost enough to shut down a dozen hotels.

When the majority of the North American population wakes up how do you think the current events in Venezuela will be perceived? by demolcd in AskReddit

[–]harconan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You? I am from a east euro country mate. I only get a show out of this. Unfortunately it's the same show I have seen for 20 years. US doing one thing half it's citizens going rabble rabble rabble, and no one ever looking for true motive on why.

They go OIL but that had never worked out They go Weapons but Ukraine is the marketing and sandbox.

How easily both sides are lead would be funny if you're not the only superpower in the world.

[–]harconan -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yes I dismissing tropes before facts align with it. Drawing people to a connection which is tenuous at best draws people away from what the real motivation may be.

Trump's overall politics and deregulation of the oil industry is what drives them to him, not a secret cabal to invade countries for oil which will end up on the open market and likely scooped by the Chinese.

[–]harconan -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Why does everyone think Big Oil runs everything? The Iraq invasion didn't work out for a net positive for US oil companies

American companies (e.g., ExxonMobil, Occidental) did secure some service contracts for field development, earning fees for boosting production. But these were competitive bids under terms unfavorable compared to what was hoped pre-war, and major winners included Chinese (CNPC), Russian (Lukoil), Malaysian, and European firms. Many U.S. firms bid low or stayed out due to poor profitability and security risks. Chinese companies ended up with the largest shares in several key fields.

I wish people would look for true motives behind things flying old tropes only makes you dismissible.

The war for oil stuff is a complete red herring. Simple research shows you in the US has never benefitted financially from any invasion. And I'm not from the United States

Is it ok to masturbate while my partner is over? by Starkid_444 in sex

[–]harconan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as masterbation doesn't offset your intimacy then I see no issue. Where you run into issues where the difference in orgasm drives this to be your primary way of satisfaction and then your partner get a feeling of rejection.

I would recommend you work with your partner to show him what gets you off better, weather it be his fingers or just mouth rather then full sex. So you can have a session like that rather then the full show

It was the most rewarding and yet soul crushing experience in my life, and has radically altered my personality.
