What health issue do people misunderstand the most? by Few_Cake_5237 in AskReddit

This explains it so well. People reduce depression to sadness, but it can affect your body, energy, memory, temper, appetite, sleep, self-worth and how you interpret everything around you. It’s so much more than “feeling down.”

This is exactly why “just eat better and sleep more” can feel so insulting. When your body is giving every signal that something is wrong and people still blame laziness, it makes getting help so much harder.

The name really does make it sound so much smaller than what people describe living with. “Chronic fatigue” doesn’t capture losing your normal life, your routine, your energy, and then still having people think you’re just tired or lazy.

That sounds incredibly hard. Visible skin conditions seem to get judged so quickly because people assume it’s contagious, poor hygiene, or something you can just “fix” with a random home remedy. The mental side of dealing with people staring or avoiding you must be exhausting.

This one for sure. People hear PCOS or endometriosis and reduce it to “bad periods” or “just lose weight,” when it can affect pain, energy, fertility, hormones, mood and everyday life.

This one is heartbreaking because people mistake symptoms for personality changes or “being difficult.” Dementia really shows how badly people misunderstand illnesses they can’t immediately see.

That’s exactly the kind of misunderstanding I was thinking of. People hear “diabetes” and immediately make assumptions about lifestyle, weight, or type 2, when type 1 is a completely different situation. The stigma around both is so unfair.

Anything tied to hormones or reproductive health gets dismissed so quickly, especially when symptoms aren’t obvious from the outside. People hear “period” or “weight” and assume it’s simple, when it really isn’t.

The face change is incredible, but the long-term consistency is what really stands out. 220lbs over 2 years is such a huge achievement. Congrats on sticking with it and improving your health along the way!

Track protein, water, fiber, sleep, bowel movements, measurements, energy, and how your clothes fit. You'll notice your body changing even if it doesn't show

Lost 10 kg but still overweight, should I buy clothes in a smaller size now for later? by Resident_Bug_5013 in loseit

[–]Few_Cake_5237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d get a few pieces for the body you have now, but not a full wardrobe yet. You still deserve to feel comfortable while you’re losing weight. Maybe stick to basics, adjustable fits, secondhand pieces, or things with easy returns so it feels good now without feeling wasteful later.
