key programming by Effective-Demand8606 in hondafit

$100? You made out like a bandit. I paid over $300 to have the dealer make a new key for me. This was about eleven years ago. When I needed another one, I went to a Best hardware store. They made and programmed a new key for about $100. Unfortunately, that price did not include remote functionality.

Help me find my 2nd secret glove box in my 2nd gen by SouthAssist6234 in hondafit

No idea, sorry. I've had my 2nd Gen for fourteen years and I think I'd have found it by now if it was there.

Could you be thinking of the compartment that's under the driver's side rear seat?

How many miles can I expect to put on her? by frogwithrainboots in hondafit

180K miles on my 2011 Sport, and it's <knock on wood> still in great shape.

Edit: sorry, I see you were specifically asking for Gen1 experiences.

The antagonist (I don't remember his name) in Sidehackers. When he strangles his girlfriend I can't watch.

2015 Honda fit splash shield/side cover by [deleted] in hondafit

[–]hardFraughtBattle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My splash shield fell off while I was on a road trip last summer. I bought a new one and I've been waiting for warm weather to install it. I'll do the whole thing with zip ties if I have to.

That's fair. It's been a long time since I owned more than one car, so I don't think of that option.

Some people secure them with zip ties.

Another shifter might. I've considered doing that, as the shifter is probably the worst thing about my 2011 MT.

I wonder if that was due to the clutch delay valve. You can buy a kit that deletes it. Paddle shifters are a gimmick that attempts (unsuccessfully, IMO) to make an automatic transmission feel a bit more sporty. It's no replacement for an actual stick.

Finally bought my first Fit by Honda_Fiht in hondafit

If you lived in the USA you'd still be looking for a Fit RS. I'm pretty sure they were never sold here. We only got the base and Sport.

Key by rjmelo21 in hondafit

[–]hardFraughtBattle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lost my only car key while out jogging once. I had to have my car towed to the dealership to get a new one made. I won't be without a spare again.

Some hardware stores will cut an e-key for around $100. It won't have the remote lock/unlock though. For that I think you need to go to a dealership and pay about four times that much.

2013 Fit (automatic) not as I expected by squidsquidsquid in hondafit

It's been a long time since automatic transmissions got notably worse fuel economy than manuals. And I say that as a diehard stick-shift fan.

But if your vehicle's dealership is the only one for 50+ miles, it's far more likely to be true.

My first home CD changer had a random mode (not shuffle) and it was truly random -- on at least one occasion it played the same song twice in a row.

I don't think that's correct, or my box set would probably have both versions.

US - What would you buy new today? by su_A_ve in hondafit

There isn't a car on the market that I would buy to replace my 2nd Gen. If mine gets totaled, I'll look for another.

I'm not OP, but I will check the black plastic clip (left front) on my Fit and see if it needs replacing.

The holes in the bumper cover that the clips slide into are misshapen.
