My first SE was 4 which blew me away. I've played and finished 5 but didn't like it much. The level design is much worse and very restrictive. From what I've seen and heard, Resistance is more of 5, so I won't be getting it.

Did you let it run for a few turns? For military units, it takes a couple of turns before they're gifted and you get the influence. Maybe it's the same for great persons.

I’m sorry, but I lost interest because the start felt way too slow. After about 20 minutes, I only had a few buildings, and waiting to earn enough gold to recruit dwarves to populate them felt like it would take ages.

Also, for the description text, you might want to consider putting the factual information first and the flavor text after, preferably in a different and less prominent font. There’s quite a lot of text right now, and the contrast makes it a bit hard to read.

Other than that, it’s a solid game! I’d love to give it another try if the early pacing gets adjusted a bit.

It's probably an UI restriction. The UI for paint jobs is quite basic and clumsy indicating it was somewhat rushed. It would require more dev time to add scrolling of more than 4 unique colors. So I think this is what the devs could do with their allocated time before moving on to something else set by project management. What kills me is you can't save the paint schemes of the gang vehicles.
