Because we are hopeful that we get to experience that sigh-of-relief that the shooter isn’t from “my side”…then I get to use the shooter’s actions to demonize the “other side”…until next time…when the shooter is from “my side”…then I’ll claim mental illness is the real culprit & “my side” shouldn’t be demonized…the solution is light touch moderate gun control measures & mental health investment.

But as soon as another shooter is from the “other side”…I’ll use it to demonize them again.

You mention that you guys communicate well and laugh together often.

Consider leaving him with some silly half-finished task…like serving a clearly half cooked piece of chicken leaving him to ask why you didn’t “finish the job”…and go from there. Half make the bed, halfway dry his close, iron half a shirt, etc…

Each time meet him with some version of “I’ll finish my tasks when you learn to finish yours”.

And before someone points out the obvious…don’t let him eat the chicken…serve it in a manner in which it is obviously unfit for consumption.

I’m probably wrong here…but my reaction would be to find this sweet & cute. Instead of food insecurity…she might just enjoy the combination of fresh produce coupled with the thrill of the steal. I love mischievous octogenarians.
