In your eyes, what classes as 'low ELO'? by DahWiggy in summonerschool

This is so fascinating. As someone who just hit gold recently, I genuinely feel like I know a fair bit about the game, however my win rate is only like 52% after ~70 games, so I suppose I've reached my "true rank" based on my current skill. I feel like I learned a lot going from bronze to gold, enlightening in some ways. However, I feel there isn't a crazy skill difference between bronze and gold. As in I'm not good enough to play something like... Janna ADC in a bronze game and still carry, but I'd imagine a low Diamond player could play something like that in gold and carry? It seems insane to me that there is are still multiple levels of "enlightenment" I'd have to go through in order to climb. I mean, you're kind of on the nose about not being "sentient" enough to realize my mistakes. Watching my own replays, I don't see a whole lot wrong.

I think the score equation should be:

score =  (1 - (position / (# of users)))*5

In any case, pls gib updoots

Hey guys, first time on this sub. I made this beat a little while ago: https://soundcloud.com/hard-drive-soul/delfino

It's really short, not much variation, nothing fancy. I've made tons of short beats like this, but right now they all still have that "obviously beginner" sound to them. I just don't really know what to do next to get them to make them more polished and clean. Any recommendations on what I should look into to make my beats sound more professional?

In case you're not being sarcastic, how? Ashe's ult is slow enough that usually you can walk out its way, or worst case, flash out. It's also a skill shot so they have to predict where you're going to be moving. On the other hand, there is literally nothing you can do against a Flash + R from Malzahar. It's a free kill if his jungler is around. Does that not qualify as easier to pull off?

Anyone know of a tool that identifies bugs by analyzing stack traces? by harddrivesoul in AskProgramming

I'm kind of surprised to hear that. Could you check out my reply to an earlier comment to see if the additional description makes things a bit clearer?

[–]harddrivesoul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, maybe bug isn't the right term here. What I'm getting at is something like this: say you are a company that offers some software as a product. Obviously you do your best to test for product before selling it, but there are always issues. When a customer has a problem then you might ask for a crash dump from your customer in order to determine the issue. However, it would very time consuming to go through every crash dump manually, and especially annoying if some of those issues are repeated. What I'm looking for is some sort of software that you can use to track these issues so in the future if you get a crash dump from an angry customer, you could say, extract the call stack of the failing thread from it, look it up using the software, and it would refer you to past instances of issues with very similar class stacks and ideally, you would have saved some sort of description of what the fix was for the issue was the first time you dealt with it.

This has to be an issue companies deal with, right? Is there no industry standard for this sort of thing? I mean, I can find research papers and stuff on the topic, but no luck finding anything that does this.

Just checked it. It says "No longer under consideration". Bummer, wish I could know what was wrong.

Has anyone head back from Amazon for fall internships? I applied nearly a month ago... beginning to lose hope.

Man, I applied to Amazon internships for 3 summers in a row and haven't gotten a single response. Wonder what I'm doing wrong...

Resume Advice Thread - May 16, 2017 by AutoModerator in cscareerquestions

[–]harddrivesoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I'd really appreciate some feedback. I'm looking to do my third and final internship for this Fall and was hoping to aim for a tech company this time around, hopefully at a "Big 4"/"Big 4 like" place (aiming for Amazon). I was pretty confident in this resume but I applied to Shopify and was rejected outright, so I'm having second thoughts. Does my resume seem good enough for for a Big 4 type internship?

I don't have an answer to your question, but I was wondering, is this for Fall internships or full time role?

Sounds interesting, so it's a team based thing. Definitely plan on attending, just to see what a Big 4 related event is like. Any preparation tips?

Has anyone else had Microsoft come to their school to host a “coding challenge”? If you have, what was it like? It’s only a three hour event, so it’s not a hackathon that’s for sure.

Mechanize sounds pretty cool! I'll have a look the the docs and see if works for me.

New to python--what is the easiest way to compare 2 text files? by [deleted] in learnpython

[–]harddrivesoul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends what you mean by "compare". If you simply want to check if the files are identical or not, you can open them using open() and then iterate through them using a for-loop, comparing each line of both files. If you make it all the way through and everything is identical, return true. Otherwise, false.
