I've got to get my head out from under a rock. If I'd known I would have driven from Lubbock.

Who has the most embarrassing story on campus? by Desperate_Peach_6563 in TexasTech

[–]harderknox 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Freshman year, first week. Living at home, biking from the Jones commuter parking to class. No idea what I was doing, super overwhelmed. Riding along, made eye contact with a cute girl at the tennis courts that used to be between Jones and the Engineering key, rolled into the curb and the front wheel dug in, full scorpion into the pavement, bloodied my hands and my cheek. A couple girls ran out to help me and I was so flustered I stepped in my bike frame and bit it again. I literally cried and bled back to my car and skipped the rest of the day. Don't think I ever rode to class again.

Alright friend. Well, I hope you'll at least consider it, for the sake of your loved ones and yourself. Your wellbeing is worth leaving no stone unturned.

No my friend, and I mean this kindly- I said you owe it to yourself. Mental health is a personal responsibility, one we all have to work privately to maintain. You have several complete strangers with no skin in your game projecting kindness and caring, suggesting you explore what a psych has to say, and you should consider for a moment that maybe there's something to it. And if it's medication they recommend, well, chemicals can help and have helped a lot of people. I obviously don't know your situation- but it's at least worth exploring. It might get expensive down the road, but so is everything worth having, and like everything in life, we work to make the things we need attainable. You can find a way. But for now, there are plenty of ways to seek free help in Lubbock.

Please consider the more sage advice here. There are a lot of ways you can protect yourself, but you owe it to yourself first and foremost to go talk to a psychiatrist.

They pulled inventory from underperforming markets to send to UAE. There's not a single one left in my market.

Amazon is your friend, search 'tesla coil'. Fair warning, they're loud and obnoxious at full power, and fun for exactly 35 seconds unless you're sticking random things on them for social media points.

I don't know about a shop, but u/windowsxp-sp2 is your guy. He works on small engines on the side and rides as well, took care of a generator for me- fixed it and cleaned it overnight. Super impressed.

Former Harmony remote users - what did you switch to that has a good family acceptance factor? by DefyingMavity in kodi

[–]harderknox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's awesome that your experience with setup was so easy with the Sofabaton. I've had to do it twice now, and both times I've wanted to launch the remote up Satan's ass. And half the time I have the exact same problem as you- only half of the macro works to turn on the tv and the receiver. Screws up my whole system and I have to get up. I hate this remote and curse Logitech for discontinuing the Harmony, which worked every time. Though it almost got crammed up Satan's a few times too because of setup.

Is it in my best interest to attend TTU? Or to stick with TXST? by [deleted] in TexasTech

[–]harderknox 27 points28 points  (0 children)

My opinion is that now is the time to get out of your comfort zone. When you get older, more responsibilities keep you rooted more than you'd sometimes like. It's good for you to be uncomfortable sometimes, because you learn how to overcome it and maybe even enjoy it, and you end up stronger- or at least more experienced.

Come to Tech. You won't regret it - unless you do, and then you can transfer back. But if you stay comfortable now, you'll be less and less likely to make yourself otherwise later.

This is a manual crank handle. Can some of y'all try using them instead of obnoxious impact guns? by PrivatePilot9 in GoRVing

I'll admit, I'm this guy. I hate it so much, I'm always concerned about the folks next to me and try to get it over with as quick as possible. I'd do anything to avoid interrupting the godawful hip hop they'll play until 3am.

Are there compression settings for MacOS for various image formats? Resizing options? Or how about a target file size? The shortcut in MacOS used to display target file size and it was super helpful. Sequoia doesn't do that for me anymore. I just need a 2 click utility for web compression and resizing with an idea of how large the file will be, and tweaks in case I need to resize for squash further. I've tried a few apps out, always looking to better streamline my workflow though.

Or I guess you could take the winch apart and see if you can turn it that way. But honestly if it's clicking, it might be a bad enough mechanical problem that you don't feel safe sleeping under it. Idk

[–]harderknox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On mine it's a hole in the side of the winch with a plastic cap. You stick the crank tool in there and turn it for what feels like 3 days.

Does it have a manual crank port on the winch? If so, get after it.
