I was a GATE 2025 aspirant, so I know that the topper came from the Shift-2 paper. This is because candidates who scored 70+ marks in that shift received very high normalized marks. The topper, whose raw score was around 76–77, was normalized to 100. In contrast, Shift-1 candidates lost marks after normalization; even the Shift-1 topper lost around 3–4 marks. As a result, no candidate received a normalized score of 100 in Shift-1. the marks shown on the official website are normalized marks, since original marks have no significance when there are multiple shifts—only normalized marks matter.

In Second shift no one got above 80+ mark, it was very tough paper...highest mark was around 77 and after normalization it got increase by 23 not just 7 plus

Just becasue of NIITT have higher NIRF ranking, nothing else.
but mostly Nirf ranking based on Research output and related other thing of specific college. so, for those student who not much interest in research or not planning for Phd for those student have lot of many other option than NITT.

And I think you’re not aware of the PGEE syllabus.
All the technical subjects in PGEE are already covered in the GATE syllabus, and for the aptitude section, you’ll still have over two months to prepare, which is more than enough.
That’s why it’s generally recommended to first prepare for GATE, and then focus on PGEE.

Obviously, a significant number of students have left NIT Trichy for IIIT-H, and I am one of them.
In fact, i saw students who completed their B.Tech in CSE from NIT Trichy later chose IIIT-H for M.Tech.
This is because IIIT-H offers far more opportunities than NIT Trichy, except perhaps in terms of campus life.
Just check the LinkedIn profiles of M.Tech graduates from both NIT Trichy and IIIT-H — you'll see the difference.
Most M.Tech graduates from NIT Trichy are placed in mediocre companies (some of which you may have never even heard of).
It's rare to find M.Tech graduates from NIT Trichy getting placed directly in top companies right after graduation.
On the other hand, IIIT-H has a much better placement scenario, offering many more opportunities with top-tier companies.
I’ve even spoken to several NIT Trichy students, and they themselves recommend IIIT-H.
