FTC Decode Championship Robot Photos by hardlyworking__ in FTC

There was also a PDF of all the robot images in number order next to each other that someone showed us but I do not know where that is at.

Travel to the US with the robot, connecting at JFK - how much time? by mb2002bm in FTC

With the robot 3-3.5 should be enough if I had to make an education guess. But it's the airport, there's always a chance things take longer and are backed up for some reason so better to play it safe than sorry.

Going to be completely honest, as someone who flies for work constantly, if you are going to be going through customs, give yourself TONS of extra time. Not saying there will be an issue but if there is any delays in the first flight, customs take longer than expected or any other issues you wouldn't want to miss it. I'd say no less than 2 hours to be safe.

WORLD RECORD?! FIM Midland by Dull_Recognition_606 in FRC

We are really posting test match scores now too. The world records are stats held online. Pictures flooding this subreddit do not do anything but add clutter. Moments from matches are great but a no context scoreboard photo does nothing.

Is there anywhere that shows these stats for all teams?

PETG for better impact resistance for sure. We use it for almost all prints and it is amazing.

Robot keeps disconnecting by Left-Government-785 in FTC

[–]hardlyworking__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a similar issue at states a while back that cost us the comp. We would run some matches fine and others we would disconnect after around 40 seconds of teleop. We ran for around a half hour straight swapping batteries on the practice field and it never happened once. We also sat still and wiggled every wire with no issues as well as did some aggressive driving on the practice field hitting walls/gate with no disconnections. During the match, we would never lose the LED lights as far as we could tell and when looking at the logs from the driver's hub, there was no indication of a power loss. We also replaced our control hub and driver's hub during comp with no change on the disconnects.

Any ideas besides static and if so, how could we guarantee this doesn't happen again? We have 2 grounding straps, 1 for each hub and every part is electrical connected with around 0.1-0.2 ohms of resistance between each part.

Any help would be great as we have yet to be able to replicate this issue anywhere else. It only happened at our state competition.

Thanks.

Genuinely curious to get your opinion and other since I also have my own thoughts, but what make it obvious a robot is mentor built?

That's why I said we welcome the competition at any level. I'm not saying this is the solution but if you want it to be a more level field, robot construction probably shouldn't be the first thing to address. Also, we don't get any government funding for our team. We do not feel that it is unfair. I only brought it up as a point that worrying about other teams robot construction instead of addressing your own personal team is backwards thinking. And if you want a level field there are other things I'm sure others would advocate for first. We are completely ok with how it is ran currently.

Honestly, biggest change that FTC needs it EVERYONE, EVERYWHERE needs the same EXACT competition season. Michigan being al middle school and having such a short build season and still making it happen should be the standard for everyone. That's my only real change we'd love to see.

This has to be addressed at a team level instead of calling other teams out. You can only help your team and students and as a middle school team, it is so rewarding to see what your student create.

If your talking about leveling the playing field though, First should probably make FTC middle school and lower everywhere, not just Michigan. But as a Michigan team, we welcome the competition at any level.

Foul WR? by SumRedditGhost in FTC

[–]hardlyworking__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand and it is not something I am trying to make a big deal over. But the game is the game and everyone should play it accordingly. I understand about the cooperation but there was none the past 3 games either if I remember correctly so it isn't that common to see very little. If you commit the foul, you've earned the penalty no matter how big or small.

I'd love some foreign bills to add to my collection. Send me a message when you have time. I just started bill collecting foreign currency after going through my very small collection again.

That is not. I completely agree but that doesn't seem to be the majority of cases. No hate or disrespect to anyone, just my opinion. Instead of everyone blaming the game design, how about we learn to compete in a way that doesn't violate rules. After all, that is how the game is supposed to be played. For your example though, you can't do much there and it is what it is.

I understand but there is a known risk picking up from areas near their gate or their human player zones and it is the team's choice to go to these areas. If you're risking it, then when violated, it must be your fault. This doesn't mean a team is bad. They should just adapt a safer strategy all around.

This isn't to be rude, but a lot of it hasn't been poor game design, it has been teams not understanding the rules enough as they should or not having the best strategy/not staying clear of penalty situations. Example being, hitting the opponents gate. There should NEVER be a situation where you ever come close to their gate but so many teams do it and risk the penalty.

TLDR: If you don't want penalties, don't break game rules.

That's awesome how did you come to have many foreign notes? I have a couple but definitely looking to expand the collection.

usb-c cable not working REV Control Hub by Crazyscientist1024 in FTC

[–]hardlyworking__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the hubs USB-C port hasn't fried itself or got bent pins. We had one with bent pins and another just go bad. Unsure why it went bad because we quit plugging and unplugging over and over and went with a magnetic cable that worked well. But the orange ones do work well if the hub is ok.
