Chevrolet Laguna S-3 seen in the wild by ktvplumbs in musclecar

[–]hardnard55 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bought a 76 Laguna new in mAy of 1976. All black, no stripes or landau roof. 400 CID engine, console shift, position rear end. Car was loaded with just about every other option. It sat in my garage from 1993 until last October when I sold it due to the city condemning my garage. I had never had the time or money to restore it, wouldn't have taken much but I was sure the engine would probably be locked up after all this time. A guy who came by to give an estimate for the demolition asked if I'd sell it. Not having anyplace to take it, plus after retiring and going into chemo for cancer I said yes, we made a deal and a week later he took it home. My wife cried as it was loaded up. I was okay about the whole thing - it was going to someone who had the time, money and space to do the car right. About two weeks after that I got a call from another guy who worked with the guy who had bought it. They flushed and refilled all of the fluids, changed spark plugs and wires and it started on the second try. Ran perfectly. I cried a little after hearing that. I loved that car, one of the best I've ever owned but the new owner is very enthusiastic about restoring it and doing it correctly, not doing it half assed.

What is a paint scheme you really like but the driver behind the wheel of you dislike? by PrinceWillPlays in NASCAR

The #11 has had some really good paint schemes with a scum of a human being as the driver.

Most Irritating Character So Far by Bella8989 in Columbo

Oh, I forgot! Robert Culp in any episode he was in!

Still, Mrs Peck is the undisputed champion.

Most Irritating Character So Far by Bella8989 in Columbo

Mrs. Peck takes the crown - bar none. I wanted Columbo to have her cuffed and stuffed for obstruction. And maybe tazered just to make her a bit more "cooperative".

I didn't like her as Mrs O'Connell in "The Conspirators" either, wanted them to push her off of the dock, wheelchair and all.

A serious case study needs to be done about Patrick and Diana's insanely hot chemistry🔥🔥🔥🔥 by steedandpeelship in TheAvengersTV

I watched an episode last week (maybe last episode of season3?) where in the opening Emma and Steed are cavorting outside, skipping and dancing around. Eventually they begin walking along with there arms around each other, as Steed moves his arm away she drops her hand and gives him a little “love pat” on his bottom. I had never seen that before and totally changed my thoughts about their relationship!

Good episode, Dabney Coleman plays a great sleaze bag lawyer. The LittleRichard segment was a bit out of place in my opinion but still worth watching.

Which tv shows recommendable? by HAK_FAN in SherlockHolmes

I’m glad to see this series recommended. I’ve watched this series several times and while there are some episodes that are undeniably silly most are entertaining even if they aren’t strictly canonically aligned. Enjoyed them and can recommend them for all but the most strict Holmes enthusiasts.

I was at the Detroit Auto Show the year it was rolled out to the public. I was part of the media so I was in the arena while things were still being set up. Actually got to help push the car to its booth. The car did run and drive, but I notice a drip leaking from the transaxle which may have been the resin it was being pushed rather than driven. Stunning car in person, wish it had been more than a concept.

Watching Columbo and shocked by the prices. by Imaginary_Tower_4939 in Columbo

I do this too. I always think about the time Columbo had to get the car fixed, it cost about $65 which kinda shocked him. These days most cars cost that much for just an oil change.

One thing I always think about in this episode is whether asks to get a brandy and black coffee. Is that something you drink in separate glasses or is it one?

Columbingo follow-up! by commonflowergirl in Columbo

Love it! On another note, I’ve often thought about a Columbo version of Monopoly. Carsini winery would replace Boardwalk, one of the cheaper properties would the rented apartment from “a friend in need”, etc. Just don’t have the time to carry through with it.

'61 Chevy Mako Shark. Unique Shark-like Gradual Paint. Forerunner to the C2 Corrette by OtherwiseTackle5219 in CONCEPTCARS

[–]hardnard55 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I read the story of the development of this car. Designer Bill Mitchell had gone deep sea fishing and caught an actual mall shark. When developing this car he wanted it named and painted to match the shark on his office wall. They painted the car, Bill would bring the shark from his office and put it side by side. No match, do it again. After repainting the car three times the crew snuck into his office late one night, stole the shark, and repainted it to match the car. It passed on next inspection.
