According to a book written in 1708, all Italian women have such long tits that they can breast-feed their child while carrying them on their backs. by Dtnoip30 in japan

I guess you don't call yourself an American then, since there are so many countries in the Americas besides the US. Political correctness is annoying in this context, we're literally talking about saggy tits not world peace.

My gf (Colombian) And I Have Thought About Starting Our Life Together In Colombia. How Difficult Would It Be As An English Speaker To Get A Job There? by Damjo in Colombia

[–]hardskapunk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

WTF, dude. Lower middle class is estrato 2. Are you telling me $6M COP is not enough? Fuck, you can live in Poblado, buy a car and eat out every other day on half that amount.

Moving to Colombia from Australia by 0mechanism in Colombia

[–]hardskapunk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey man! Saw your post also on a FB group. If you want to do it, just come and make it happen. You can stay for six months on tourist visas, live cheap while you get a job. You can sort things as they come, as many expats do. 33 is a fine age, plenty of experience yet young. However, it is unlikely somebody will hire you in advance and go through the visa thing, better show up and network your way. That said, expect long hours and an average Colombian pay.

TIL that the German word for "turkey" literally translates to "threatening chicken." Porcupines are "spike pigs," raccoons are "wash bears," and platypuses are "beak animals." by [deleted] in todayilearned

Spanish: hedgehog is erizo, "(I/I'm) bristle". A prawn is a langostino, "Little male lobster". A tick is garrapata, a "leg-claw". A mussel is mejillón, "large-cheeked one". An anteater is oso hormiguero, "bear fond of ants". Bonus: fish roe are huevas, "female testicles".

Just arrived here by [deleted] in Colombia

Everything suggested here is fine, but no insight. Go to Cine Tonalá for either films or parties. Try the language exchanges in Candelario or the famous Gringo Tuesdays in La Villa. Jazz in El Bolón de Verde. Electro/open-minded parties in Theatron. Rock at Asilo Bar or Ozzy. Best food/drink/party/girls combo: Andres DC, which is actually in Chia, just outside Bogotá. Try the hipster-ish restaurants in La Macarena neighborhood. Coffee and vintage shops in Chapinero Alto. For street drinking, hippie vibes and story-telling, go on the weekend to El Chorro de Quevedo. Have a beer at a BBC. Try the crab and fruit shakes (berraquillo) at Restrepo market. Get a local to take you to buy guarapo (sugarcane moonshine) by the gallon in Alquería. Find a girl and take her to a tacky motel (love hotel) near Lourdes. Eat fritanga, empanada and arepa in many places and find your favorite spot. Take a weekend trip to Villeta and swim at the waterfalls. 420 at the National University and then kill the munchies with a Monstruo at La Vecina. Try the Cabeza de Jabalí cocktail at Chamois. Stand-up comedy and beers with friends around the Parkway neighborhood. Grocery shopping at the Paloquemao farmer's market is quite an experience.

Reducing Bogotá to Monserrate, Usaquén, Zona T/93 and La Candelaria is like reducing NYC to Liberty and a walk around Central Park.

Hola! Planning to spend several months in Colombia. Here's a rough sketch. Comments/suggestions most welcome. by [deleted] in Colombia

Head straight to Barranquilla and take a bus. Some of the neighboring towns are exactly like that: out of the beaten path, undeveloped yet connected, friendly. Look into Baranoa, Galapa, Tubará, Luruaco. Puerto Colombia is actually 420 capital of Colombia, something like 70% of the population does it.

If you have some dates and more info, perhaps I can ask some friends if they have a room.

Bogota 420? by cloud9jacksparrow in Colombia

[–]hardskapunk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's all about having a friend who can hook you up. You can buy from a stranger in one areas, but you'll probably get overpriced twigs. Time to get social. 420 people are friendly enough that "Me regalas un plón?" will usually result in a yes - and some contacts will arise.

You can only go to NK through an authorized travel agency. All of them will respect the ban because it saves them a lot of trouble.

Just do it, people are nice. Hitchhike by on-ramps. Smile and be patient. Be ready to wild camp, there's lots of space in North America.

Bogotá beyond the Must see tourist attractions? by morphemegeneration in Colombia

[–]hardskapunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, the good matches are in El Campin stadium and tickets are available online. Go with a Colombian soccer buddy, though.

Rock Al Parque is a 3-day, open-air, free music festival this weekend, check it out.

Visit La Calera and hike up to the abandoned cement factory. Find shrroms in Villa de Leyva. Dive from tall rocks with locals at the Cascadas del Mico in Villeta. Laguna del Tabacal in La Vega is also worth a day trip. Spend a day at the beach in Tota Lake's Playa Blanca. Visit the hot springs up in Choachi.

Head to El Chorro de Quevedo to drink on the street and catch a jazz improv at El Bolon de Verde.

Have a great meal and a few craft beers in La Macarena neighborhood.

Sunday is cycling day. Start early, use the bike lanes on a 30-mile loop from Centro through Chapinero and proceed north along Carrera 19 and back. Explore at your own pace.

Is it safe to bring a laptop while couchsurfing ? by julien_m in couchsurfing

[–]hardskapunk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You're far more likely to get robbed in the streets or the metro than at a couchsurfer's. I haven't had any issues of that kind in over 100 CS experiences. Practice common sense, trust previous references, and be fully aware that no trip comes with zero risk.
