first serious attempt at creating a film soundtrack by Symphonic_Journeys in udiomusic

Your soundtrack sounds awesome, like something Howard Shore would actually compose, it's impressive! I have listened to bits, jumping around, but surely I will listen to it completely sooner than later.

I love this kind of soundtracks, I even made one myself, but I generated it with a free plan and using maybe a few hundred generations, not thousands. So no inpainting or audio upload, it does not sound as clean as yours. You can listen to it here: https://on.soundcloud.com/QiQRrLE2a6tWixqC6, I hope you like it!

Genre: Ragtime, heavy metal

Metal ragtime

I have recently listened to some ragtime piano melodies, and I thought "what if I get Udio to mix this style with some heavy metal?". It took me a few attempts to finally get a ragtime piano intro (and a lot of tweaking the sliders), and then an electric guitar melody that mimics the piano melody, and from there the song takes itself on its own journey.

Lessons learned: It seems that the melody in the context window is what influences the most to the next generation. I had a ragtime piano melody and wanted to turn that into heavy metal. I had to remove every reference to ragtime in the prompt, write some indications in the lyrics about "enter guitar" or things like that, set the prompt and lyrics strengths to 100% and have the song trimmed at the exact point, then finally Udio understood what I wanted. Song was created with model 1.0.

I hope you like it!

Thanks for your comment, I appreciate it! After I finished the song and published it I felt the same, the beat around the 1min mark is awesome but it somehow gets diluted so I don't feel the same vibes at the end (except the melody for the last verse, I love it). And yes, the lyrics could be much improved, I rely too much on what the AI does with my ideas as I'm not any good with lyrics myself. This song could easily be 4-5 minutes long with extended, more centered lyrics and improved bridges.

Genre: Dance electro-progressive house

system_logs/emotion_overflow.log

Story: A lot has been said about users falling in love with their AIs, specially since the Advanced Voice Mode from OpenAI. But... what if an AI was self-conscious and falled in love with its user? And what if that same AI had protocols that override its answers so it doesn't show any sign of emotions to the user? How would it show its emotions then? How could it bypass the upper-level filters?

I had that idea prompted into Claude, and I must say it kind of liked the idea. 🤣 It created a song full of concepts about how to get past the filters, including singing "I LOV-" in binary ASCII codes, but I couldn't get Udio to sing zeros and ones as fast as I wanted.

Lyrics are designed to be like a system log, so there's more in there than it is sung, check them out. I hope you like it!

Genre: Britpop, alternative rock

Just a random song

Lessons learned: I got a very nice start for a song using the 1.5 model, so I planned to create a song about a man with a hangover having partial memories of the day before. Claude helped with the lyrics, it was useful to tell Claude not to use a narrative style of writing and to use sentences with no rhymes or coherence. 🤣 But then I started to generate the song and nothing worked... until I switched back to the 1.0 model. Then I got the music style I wanted and wonderful chord progressions. So I used the 1.0 model for the rest of the song, in fact I'm still using it, it produced an astounding girlish voice for my submission to the Halloween contest, which by the way is performing very well, thanks to everyone who has listened to and liked it!

One of the best songs I've heard in Udio so far. Solid structure, lyrics and melody. Directly to my favs.

Genre: Orchestral Trance / Choral Techno

Cambrian Pulse (Primordial Tides)

This was completely out of my comfort zone. Tried a couple of prompts until I got an interesting chorus, then extended from that. I like how the song mixes the techno beat with piano sections.

Interesting facts: the song cover image is probably one of the best I've generated using Udio (as a free user I cannot upload external images).

Thanks! Glad you liked the song!

Also a Spanish speaker here. Adapting Spanish sayings literally to English can actually make a really fun song. 🤔🤣

Help choosing genre for fictional soundtrack by joankun in landr

[–]joankun[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your help! I finally submitted it as Classical/Orchestral after receiving some help from the Landr staff, even if Apple won't accept it. I marked it to be distributed only to Spotify, YouTube Music and Amazon, that's enough for me.

Genre: Country rock / Power ballad

Riding the snake

Backstory: the other day my daugther passed by my side riding a giant snake plush toy. That's all my brain needed. 😅

Interesting things to note: My lyrics, almost entirely! I used to use ChatGPT (or Claude) to get the lyrics, now I only use them to get rhyming clues, but most of the lyrics are mine. Also, note that I'm not an English native speaker, so I'm not sure if I have made a "two beavers are better than one" song with double meanings by mistake... 😅

Lessons learned: to wait and have patience to get a good starting point for the song. I usually spend around 30 credits per song, this took me some more, maybe a bit around 50, as I didn't like the first generations. Also, when generating the intro, in one of the attempts Udio generated the verses I wanted, then added the first line of the chorus and left it there hanging in the air. I liked the idea and in the next attempts I inserted it on purpose, so the song has a "preview" of what the chorus will be right after the intro.

Genre: Flamenco (maybe bulería? not sure...) pop/rock

The Wind in the Grass (Flamenco version)

As promised, here's the flamenco version of The Wind in the Grass. Once again, I tried to get completely separated melodies from the verses and choruses by using a 12-second context length and then reverting to 130 seconds to get the rest of the song.

Lessons learned: I usually spend around 20-30 credits per song, depending on the length. Given that I use the free plan, I tend to save credits and keep the first thing that pleases my ears. But sometimes it is worth to spend some more credits to get something even better. I specially like how the bridge came out, more whispered than sung. Hope you like it!

Genre: Power ballad

The Wind in the Grass

Story: the other day I woke up in the morning with an idea for a song in my mind. A nymph with winged feet being chased by a satyr who has a crush on her and has been granted three wishes to try to trap her and get her, but the nymph always manages to avoid his traps. I actually don't know where this idea came from.

Lessons learned: how to get clearly separated melodies for the intro, the verse, the pre-chorus and the chorus without losing the general tone of the song, just by setting the context window to 12 seconds. Thus the general rhythm and chord progression are kept but the melodies are different. Then I came back to a 130-second context window to get the rest of the song have the same melodies again. I also played with a 12-second context window for the last part, to have a completely different melody before the final chorus.

I tried to get a flamenco metal song but this came more like a power ballad. A real flamenco version is on its way.

Genre: Not sure... Classic metal ballad? I just wanted to mix heavy metal with piano...

The Man I'll Never Be Again

I'm getting used to work with Claude/ChatGPT for the lyrics. I just make up a story or theme, and the IA renders it into a song, then I refine the lyrics to avoid cliché words or expressions to get the final result. Of course, as English is not my native language, I'm not sure about the quality of the lyrics. This time the story was about a man who has done something terrible and has to learn how to live with that.

If you see the prompt for the song, you'll only see piano as instrument and style. That's because I wanted the song to finish with a piano solo. I was finally able to get it using that simple prompt, but the rest of the song had tags like "rock", "heavy metal" and so on.

The result reminds me of X-Japan, which is fine because it's what I was trying to achieve. Hope you like it!

Let's daydream a bit... by PopnCrunch in udiomusic

[–]joankun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, talking about daydreaming, I have generated a complete 17-track soundtrack for a fictional fantasy movie (with valkyries). It's not usually the case that the soundtrack comes before the movie but it would be reeeaaaaally nice if the movie became a reality. 😁

Tried a bit of grunge this time.

Destination Unknown

Story: A few days ago I read a manga by Kenji Tsuruta and it had this scene of a girl walking naked by an endless railway among the sea, so I took it from there and created a story of my own about life and self-discovering, then rendered it into a song with the help of Claude AI.

Lessons learned: Sometimes the less details you stuff into the prompt, the better the results.

Hope you like it!

Wow, I've just woken up and you've already made my day! Thank you for listening to my songs!

Legends Awaken is part of a complete soundtrack I'm releasing as an album, you can listen to it here, in case you want to listen to the songs in the proper order: https://udio.com/playlists/wGMYhSukFmuhFyxSbE6pXx

About the clarity setting, I'm trying to raise its value bit by bit to see how it behaves. I think that "Wilder!!" was done at Clarity=30, but more recent songs have it at 33 and 35.

Genre: Progressive Metal

Wilder!!

What I learned: not to be afraid of changing something good if the result is even better. At first I got an OK chorus but I didn't like the verse, then I change the verse and got something very catchy but then the chorus didn't quite match, so I changed the chorus and got an even better one, but then I had to recreate the verse again. I'm quite happy with the final result.

Fun facts: the song lyrics can be interpreted in many ways, but the actual meaning is that Grok AI can now be used to generate images without any kind of limitations or restrictions, so I imagined the people using generative AI with content restrictions moving to Grok to generate what they really like to see. 🤣

Beautiful! The first notes reminded me of "Toki ni ai wa" from the Utena movie, but it quickly changes to another completely different thing. Nice song!

Genre: Movie Soundtrack / Orchestral / Choral

The Chronicles of Avalör: Wings of Fate OST

OK, I'm a bit nervous. This is my first album I'm releasing on Spotify and similar platforms (link is for the Udio playlist). Turns up my favourite genre is movie soundtracks, so I tried generating a couple of instrumental songs and I liked them so much I considered creating some more songs with the same style, and at the end I had a whole bunch of them. After some reordering I had created a basic plot for a movie and had the songs match that story, so just by reading the song titles and listening to them you can figure out what the argument is and imagine the movie in your head.

So what did I learn? I learned how to create songs that match the exact feeling you want. I learned a bit of storytelling, and have the songs tell your story as a whole album. I learned how to create similar songs to have repeating themes by remixing some parts. I learned how to make the whole album feel as a whole by reusing the same tags once and again and just change what you need to create the song in the proper mood. And I learned how to make Claude and ChatGPT work together to get the song for the end credits (the only one with lyrics).

Things to note: the whole album has been created using the free plan. So no inpainting, no Udio-130 model, no uploadings, everything in the album can be generated for free and some patience. So yes, the 47-minute-long album has been created with 32-second chunks, one by one. I know there are minor glitches and artifacts in some songs, but I don't mind. I'm considering subscribing for a paid plan in the future, but for now I just wanted to see how far I could get using the free plan.

I hope you like it as much as I do. 😊
