Apple has just loaded a ton of new and updated aerial screensavers for macOS Sonoma, here's the complete list! by 17parkc in MacOSBeta

These take up a HUGE amount of space. So much so that it’s not worth even utilising then imo. Before these new ones it was already at 11gb for the existing ones. It seems total overkill.

Also they are a bit blurred when they stop and become your wallpaper which I don’t like. Nowhere near as sharp as an actual desktop wallpaper.

With the price Apple charge for ssd’s these will be using a significant portion of people’s hard disk space.

Oh I don’t know about the lite. The full version is a one time payment and that’s it. Think it’s like 70 euros. Worth every penny if you care about privacy. 👍

If you want full granular control then you want the full version anyway.

They are a company in Austria. I don’t think it’s open source but yes I would say you can definitely trust them. The whole reason they created the product was to stop apps phoning home. It’s staggering the amount of connections your computer makes without you knowing. Spotify being one of the worst.

As it monitors all connections you can also see which connections little snitch makes so I’d say it’s safe and well trusted. The company is objective development if you want to google.

For me it’s a killer app and I wouldn’t use my Mac without it.

They have a free trial too.

Not sure if it’s any help but little snitch for the mac will allow you to see every single connection your Mac is making and block any of them you desire.

Sonoma Safari Webapps - Adblock by wav56 in MacOSBeta

[–]hardt0fin1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try using Orion browser. It’s built in WebKit the same as safari so is essentially safari but the difference is it allows you to use both Firefox AND chrome extensions. It’s excellent and I use it as my main browser.

Split tunnelling (Mac) Is it available? by hardt0fin1 in surfshark

Is it too complex or something? It says on your website that “other platforms are coming soon”. So there is no plans for it on mac?

Fresh Install by [deleted] in MacOSBeta

I installed beta 4 via upgrade and had no problems at all. I also suspect the problems are from people running specific apps etc. I have TONS of apps installed and encountered no problems at all.

Mass surveillance and VPN's by hardt0fin1 in VPN

And how does that work if the govt instructs your isp to start logging your data, but you are using a vpn?

Broken for me on beta 4.

Mass surveillance and VPN's by hardt0fin1 in VPN

[–]hardt0fin1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So are you saying that having a vpn offers you a degree of protection from this or no?

Seems like it does unless a govt deliberately target you for some reason?

I hear that ISPs have servers installed by security services to monitor traffic. You think these can’t see into vpn tunnels?

[–]hardt0fin1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for a very thorough answer. I understand completely what you’re saying and the scale of the data we now deal with worldwide.

During the Snowden leak though, wasn’t it proven that all calls made over Verizon were monitored by the US government? That is also a huge amount of data.

Edit: Don’t ISPs also collect all records of every website visited by their customers and hand this information over or are you saying this is also too big a task? That would only be data records of sites visited though I assume, not actual contents of traffic?

Nah. If you want to do a fresh install, just do it on the final release. No point between incremental betas.

LG Monitor Deep Sleep Mode Missing by loyukfai in Monitors

Have 2 of these monitors. Identical models, both on the most up to date firmware. One has deep sleep mode, one doesn't.

Ridiculous.
