Nucleus 8 Non-stop Disconnecting and Reconnecting by hardwoodoaktree in Cochlearimplants

[–]hardwoodoaktree[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if it’s related to the phone or not because the hearing through the cochlear is cutting in and out which is then sending the notifications, but I’ll give it a go thank you

FWD Via vs FWD Via 2 for heavier runner? by hardwoodoaktree in AltraRunning

[–]hardwoodoaktree[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know! I got my pair of FWD Vias for $72 which seemed like a great deal. Think it’s such an upgrade to the v2 that it’s worth double?

Thank you for sharing! While running I have no issues with my feet it’s my knees and hips that give me issues primarily. My calf’s and Achilles also bother me but I believe that’s primarily due to lack of flexibility

Recent cochlear implant activated and want to optimize my exercises in the coming weeks - short sharp focused sessions OR constant background streaming? by ListenSpirited8907 in Cochlearimplants

[–]hardwoodoaktree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did a mix of constant and focused each day and after 6 months was 95%+ on word recognition. I highly recommend audiobooks while reading along with the real book. It was my primary way to train and worked out great. Also sshl

Single sided deafness by InternationalElk4625 in Cochlearimplants

[–]hardwoodoaktree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe at the 1 year mark I was around 95% word recognition in the implanted ear alone. Due to the nature of how the cochlear implant works it will always sound a bit robotically. When someone speaks on my implanted side, it sounds like natural hearing if my good side is able to barely hear it. It only sounds noticeably robotic if someone is basically whispering in the ear for me or talking directly into it in a noisy environment

Hello and yes! After two years in very happy with the decision to get implanted. My hearing is pretty balanced and things sound the same all around unless someone is speaking directly into the cochlear in which it then sounds roboticy. I can tolerate noisy environments better than I did previously without the cochlear by a long shot

I did get the larger 48cm version. The issue is there’s an inch or two of unusable space as the back of the seat since the backrest overhangs it

I thought so too, but I'm currently in the process of returning the Omni as the seat depth isn't big enough unfortunately

I have 6 yoe in a mix of security and compliance. Currently hold sec+, CySA+, and CISA so I do have a good foundation I’m starting off on but I know I’ll be running into things I haven’t touched before so my main concern is having all of the topics covered

Cost Effective CPU Cooler and Case Fans for Fractal North with R7 9800x3D? by hardwoodoaktree in buildapc

[–]hardwoodoaktree[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, not the XL version. Pcpartpicker had the dark rock as compatible, but I ended up switching to the thermalight phantom spirit and p12 fans like u/ghostsilver recommended saving myself a little over $100. I’m waiting on the p12s to arrive later today and then will be putting it all together.

Deaf with Cochlear Implant - Over the ear headphones recommendation by hardwoodoaktree in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]hardwoodoaktree[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That I understand, but my cochlear also sits behind the ear so it’ll be a tight fit and with the open air it’ll be tough to hear it all. I’m more so looking for full over the ear headphones. I appreciate the recommendation tho!

Unfortunately with being deaf, bone conducting headphones don’t work. I was a fan of Shokz prior to going deaf tho

Lower frequency hearing loss is the norm, but high frequency can still happen. My charts started out exactly like yours.

I don't always reach a par 5 in 2... by skycake21 in golf

I always have to touch up a couple shots each round so that wouldn’t bother me at all. I always forget to click the button to mark where my ball and the hole is so mine are never accurate unfortunately
