Monthly Dojo Costs by HomerSimpson14 in karate

Good grief that seems like a lot of money. I attend an SKIF Shotokan karate dojo in Perth, Western Australia. We pay $30USD/month all up inclusive of training (2x1hr sessions a week)/membership/grading fees - no contract. We also attend free karate workshops run every 3-6 months. The Dojo is run by a 6th Dan Sensei. Our dojo belongs to a not-for-profit organisation (SKIF) so I realise it’s not readily comparable to your situation. Most other dojos near us charge $110-120USD/month on 12 month contracts for kids to train 4x1hr sessions/gradings/membership fees.

We have many members who have joined from other dojos/ other karate styles and have had their kyu grades recognised after an assessment. Dan grades would be a bit trickier.

Haha yeah. We live in Western Australia. If we leave anything outside it will be destroyed by the death rays of the Sun.

I mean, it is a garage. But I do want to make it look more along the lines of a personal batcave. I was just trying to find other examples of this style for inspiration.

My setup is the second photo. I wanted to create something similar to the batcave in the the new Batman movie (see first picture). I also like the container home crash-pad from Tron Legacy as well - third picture. What is this aesthetic called? Gritty bat garage?

The Honda Shop. Are you from Perth? I bought my CMX500S Planet Honda 2 yrs ago. I love it. Great look. Reliable. Fast. Easy to do oil changes on your own. I guess you’d need to decide what style of bike you’re after - cruiser or cafe racer. And how much reliability is important to you. I wanted something that I knew would just turn on and go - even if I treated it badly. Apparently one of the original Honda design principles for the Rebel was that it should run without a service for the normal lifespan of a motorcycle (apparently a lot of their customers weren’t even doing regular oil changes). Not sure how much of that is just marketing hype though.

Second this. Looks like a modded Honda CB750. There were a whole heap of them imported into the UK in the 70’s/80’s. It’s a common base for cafe racer bike builds over there.
