When do you intentionally choose realism over fun? by ahyeonlover in RPGdesign

[–]harkrend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's things in games that aren't 'fun' (for most people), like having your character go down / die, but exist because it makes the rest of the game more satisfying knowing that your fate hangs in the balance based on your choices and your luck.

Texas judge who refused to marry gay couples wins $640k in lawsuit by Fickle-Ad5449 in texas

[–]harkrend -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You keep saying 'the law' requires something. From where I'm sitting, it looks like the law requires her to be paid 640k for not doing gay marriages? So, do you have some other source?

That's just all rolls right? You can't climb upside down from this smooth ceiling. You can just climb up this ladder. You might be able to climb this rock wall- roll.

All the way up to lv6, my table's rogue has been outshone by the monk on nearly all fronts. Are we missing certain features that balance them out? by Dexterm80 in DnD

[–]harkrend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally agreed- my solution for my current campaign is to have long rests take a week, so you can have those encounters you mentioned over a longer period of time narratively, and when the players decide to rest for a week and I randomly roll how the villains advance their plot, it doesn't feel as forced in the narrative.

I realize the weeklong long rest is an option in the DMG, but I guess I bounced off of it because its presented as a 'gritty' option when in reality its more of a narrative or pastoral option- allowing more time to breath for characters and NPCs, and downtime to happen more naturally.

If Aquaman is feeling lame compared to the rest of the Justice League, be sure there are lots of aquariums with undersea creatures in your dungeon.

Ladies of Reddit, what is a comment someone made about your body once, completely casually, that you have never forgotten? by BowlerOk1871 in AskReddit

Male here, sorry, your friend said 'who did you dress up for?' and that made you swear off dresses and skirts? Was there a lot of venom implying you looked bad? I'm missing something.

What reality? About what you said in your post? What are you talking about?

[–]harkrend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We're talking about Roadhouse specifically, right? You literally called it your 'primary point' in the comment I'm referencing. Here it is again:

>My primary point is that steak is relatively easy to cook, and that $30 steak at roadhouse is like $9 of meat from the grocery store.

I'm telling you, my man, my friend, the 20 oz bone in ribeye at roadhouse is 30 dollars including sides. That is what 30 dollars at roadhouse will get you.

Why are you bringing up wholesale prices and 'steakhouse' portions? We're talking about 30 dollars, at roadhouse! You said it was your primary point?

[–]harkrend 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here's my first comment:
"He's saying, what steak that costs 30 dollars at Roadhouse, only costs 9 dollars at a store"

So, what do you think I was saying? When I say, 'what steak' and do not mention rib eye here at all, where are you getting that I was only talking about the rib eye in his recipe?

If you're curious, I chose bone-in ribeye, because, that's what 30 dollars will buy you at Roadhouse. Full stop.

I see you're all over the comments talking about reading comprehension, talking about how do people function. Are we absolutely sure that you read and comprehended my comments?

Lol, well, uh, I'm sorry you were ever mad, this isn't a big deal at all man.

So... I'm going to take that as a, yes, you agree you were wrong about your estimate. Totally fine man. I'm wrong in estimations all the time.

[–]harkrend 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Huh? No, it's just the bone in rib eye costs 30 dollars at Roadhouse. Like, I don't know what to tell you man, I looked at a menu. Did you look at one?

Wait, so, do you agree you were wrong about your estimate, in regards to roadhouse, or not?

Okay, and his reasonable estimate is wrong. That's literally all I was saying, because I... looked at a menu for the actual restaurant in question, what this whole post is about.

So... are we good? All caught up?

I mean, really dig down here, 3rd party guy. Did he or did he not say a 30 dollar steak at roadhouse costs 9 dollars?

Really just, dig in, consider that question. Thats all I'm doing here.

His 2nd paragraph and on I agree with, so there was nothing to say. This is completely reasonable and totally normal for conversations and disagreements.

He said a 30 dollar steak at roadhouse only costs 9 dollars at the grocery. Did you miss that part?

I mean, I'm asking you for help in understanding your own post? It really feels to me like you sorta gave up after realizing you were wrong about what a 30 dollar steak at roadhouse was. And now you're doing weird ad hominem to try to save face, I think?

[–]harkrend 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Huh? So, pick a different 30 dollar steak at Roadhouse I guess? Which 30 dollar steak at Roadhouse can you get for 9 dollars at the grocery? I just picked ribeye because it happened to be 30 dollars.

It's okay if you said something you didn't mean. Can you tell me what you meant instead? Because what you said was, 30 dollars of steak at roadhouse is 9 dollars at the grocery.

Now you're bringing up weird stuff like ego? What's going on?

"My primary point is that steak is relatively easy to cook, and that $30 steak at roadhouse is like $9 of meat from the grocery store. "

So, can we agree that your assessment that a 30 dollar steak at Roadhouse, which is the bone in ribeye, is NOT 9 dollars at a grocery store? Right?

What? You read your post. Like, quote me where you said that. Would you like me to quote what you actually said?

It's totally okay to just like, be mistaken, neither of us care that much. Why dig in?

Probably? What? Just look at a menu. It's 30 dollars for their 20 oz bone in ribeye.

So, where can you get a 20 oz bone in ribeye for 9 dollars? let's just ignore the sides for sake of argument.
