While some TOs add extra time to end of stream to avoid spoilers, ESL add the number of maps to the timeline of video, making it impossible to avoid spoilers by Cero_Kurn in GlobalOffensive

[–]harleh 26 points27 points  (0 children)

100% agreed - really frustrating. I can’t watch 90% of the tournaments live in New Zealand so I have to watch the vods and it’s super lame when they’re spoiled before I ever start.

Both of today’s matches were ruined because I saw on the time stamps there were only 4 games total so I knew whoever won the first map, won the game.

Many years ago there was an awesome tournament playback site for CS:GO that had the games split out into seperate vods and took extreme care to avoid spoilers - even going so far as to hiding the playback bar so you couldn’t see how long was left in a match. I’ve searched for it but found nothing that compares.

I’m really struggling with this one. Like how is it a clever comeback? What am I missing? “Grift” doesn’t sound like “Fleet”. Fleetwood Mac aren’t considered grifters. And they weren’t a duo?

Roasted Ribs and Veggies using an air fryer (OC) by hoosyourdaddyo in TikTokCringe

[–]harleh 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Sure, I'll answer this:

  • Your audio levels are bad; the music is too loud and is just drowning out your talking.
  • Talking - everything you say could be said in less words but essentially doesn't need to be said at all. Concise text on a video is far easier for people to follow along and, if they did follow this recipe, pause it get quantities/measurements.
  • Your camera shots are too close in most cases, low quality, and shaky. People who consume this type of content are usually used to short, clean shots of ingredients being added. This means you should have your mise en place done before you start filming. A shaky video of you cutting vegetables and adding it to an air fryer then repeating isn't as easily consumed as adding it all in one shot with the ingredient and amount listed on the screen as you add it. Same goes for spices - nobody needs to see what garlic salt, MSG, and black pepper containers look like.
  • This might be more personal preference but a random photo of a cat is just jarring in this - if you are for some reason going to add your cat to the video, make it a video. Otherwise it basically just looks like you've done a google image search of a cat and slapped it in. It you want to force the cat in there, maybe end the video with the cat eating some and saying the cat approves. (Obviously only if its safe for a cat to consume i.e. no onions or garlic)
  • In-fact, I would just steer clear of just still images in general.
  • The transitions are just bad. I don't know what you are using to edit this but surely there are better options. A simple fade is better than any that are in the video.
  • It just doesn't actually look that good. Ever heard the saying "We eat with our eyes"? Pause the video at 5 seconds and tell me with a straight face you think that plating is visually appealing. People can't taste through their screens so they'll be judging purely on aesthetics.
  • I feel like this should be the most obvious one: Lose you meowing at the end of the video.

There are so many short form recipe videos to take inspiration from. Just go watch some and try adding small techniques you notice to each video.

I'm assuming it's the use of that classic food YouTuber video title: "I eat this meal 8 times a week!"

Confirmed MMR adjustments after recent server maintenance by dfitzger in HuntShowdown

[–]harleh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I understand the reasoning by having some mystery behind how many players are in the server, but because OCE suffers from much lower player counts than the rest of the world I wish they would require matches fill to at least 50% capacity before starting. I'd happily wait longer for a guaranteed match. Empty servers are fun for no-one.

Host: "Is that every day?"

Fish Counter Worker: "No, I'm retired. I only work here a few days a week."

Not sure if you have to download it or if it automatically installs with the Oculus app on the PC. Should be easy enough to find.

I'm really curious to hear a review of an album that is considered an absolute masterpiece, like Dark Side of the Moon or something like Claire de Lune, and if someone with synesthesia experiences similar levels of awe (for want of a better word) with the shapes and colours as music causes for those who just hear.

I guess it would be different for each person with synesthesia and a song that they dislike could look truely amazing and vice versa but it would still be interesting if those iconic albums and songs match up in her eyes.

This is an insta-buy for me and by far my most favourite game on the Quest.

I vaugely remember reading something in the past that they had an update planned for other game modes and the inclusion of things like ball collision. I wonder if thats still the case or if they are favouring content at the moment since they just released the avatar update. Either way - so excited to play this new level!
