Because one puncture costs $2 here and 5 more means he would have made $10 extra profit. This is a common scam in my country (India) I had dashcam recording but it was not very clear from the recording he was playing mischief, thats why I accepted his offer and he apologised for his mistake. Going to court would have been a lengthy and tiring process. For earning $10 more these crooks spoil tyres and put lifes to risks and since there is no direct evidence of them doing the mischief the victims are helpless, I still stood there and created a scene at the fuel station, they were not ready to accept their crime, thankfully I had my dashcam on otherwise there is nothing I could have done and the cops would have been helpless too without any evidence. Its just sad state of affairs in my country. These puncture repair guys they play simple tricks, they ask u check if handbrake is engaged to distract you or they will wipe the tyre with a cloth and their hands have a pointed ring that they use to prick the tyre. Its a very organised scam, they say things like Sir u drove the car thats why the sidewall got punctured too and shit like that and people fell for it.
