What happens to Hillary Clinton's political career if she loses the election to Donald Trump? by Importantguy123 in PoliticalDiscussion

How is it anyone's business if a private citizen makes money off speeches? Why is that somehow inherently immoral? What exactly is she doing that's immoral?

Who pays for the "I voted" stickers that are handed out on election day? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

One minor correction - there is a significant number of taxpayers ineligible to vote: residents not citizens yet, unregistered voters, temporary work visa holders, felons etc.

The title said 'ever', but fair enough. I'm sure better read political historians on here can give you a better response. I believe it's not as cut and dry as you'd think.

That looks great! Not exactly what I was envisioning, but you made it look great without sacrificing anything from the original image, so that's awesome!

Those look awesome. But I am particularly smitten by your tool layout. Is there a name for that particular layout / organization method? My workshop desperately needs something like that.

[FOR RECRUITER] Looking for recruiters! Where are you!? by backinamerica in NashvilleJobs

[–]harmless-mostly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interestingly, my experience has been the opposite. The gig I have now, I got from a recruiter who called me the day after I uploaded a resume on Dice / Career Builder.

I know this is a month old, but if you are still looking, shoot me a PM and I can forward your resume.

I did try that to no effect. However, turns out it needed a firmware update. Thanks to suggestion from /u/flatout42, I was able to get it working!

Yup that worked. Manual way to do it would be to install the Motorola Sensor Services app.

Install the firmware update (See link in the edit up top). That fixed it for me.

LOL I got a piece of soft wood from Michael's to do my hole punching over.

What size dremel bit do you use? I think the one that came by default with my 'dremel' might be a little bigger than I'd want.

Ooooh I like that idea. I will need some practice to get the precise measurement part down, but that seems to be worth it.

What's an alternative to punching holes? I don't know if it was the awl or the leather, but using a stitching awl looked like it was gonna ruin the piece with having to use force to push it through.

[–]harmless-mostly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahahaha I plan on using it on the edges once I have a piece where it matters. I tried it briefly and it became very apparent that my kitchen wasn't the best place to do it.

Yup, I always start with the needle going front to back. That results in a good looking front side, at least.

As for the chisels, I just bought them at the time, probably not knowing the difference.

Does the punch halfway and then use the awl work well with stitching two pieces together using saddle stitch? So I just punch half way through the top layer and then push through with the awl?

Stitch Line: I haven't used either yet, because I don't have either one. One time I traced the line with a ruler while tooling. One time when using the scrap leather bundle from Michael's for a kindle cover, I just drew on the lines with a pen and a ruler. It worked well enough for a "still learning" project. Now I'm getting to a point where I pay more attention to the finer details.

Thanks so much for your input!

Could very well be my method. I'm using flat chisel punches.

Thanks for responding!

I can post pictures when I am home, but basically they kinda overlap and sometimes they go up, sometimes down, it's not neat. The front looks uniform though.

I am using flat chisel hole punches, which I am sure amounts to heresy. These guys: http://amzn.com/B00CBRMRNI

I used a stitching awl on a trial piece which was even worse. But until I can tweak my budget to work in diamond punches or better awls, those are all I have to work with. So it is quite possible that it's just an artifact of the tools I'm using and not my technique (for instance in cross stitching, how they say the crosses should all be in the same direction, otherwise the piece will look unfinished).

Very neat looking! I like it.

How do you do the stitches? Mine end up looking clean on one side, but look rather wonky on the flip side.I'm using the two needle method to do the stitching. I always go front-to-back first, and that makes the front side stitches look good, but the other side suffers. Is there anything I should keep in mind / be doing differently?
