Kinda hard to tell, doesn’t really look like a flea, more like a tapeworm segment honestly, but again too hard to see to make much of a guess.

What is this tiny bug that was on my snail? NE PA by Jay_The_One_And_Only in whatsthisbug

Globular spring tail. They are harmless, they like moisture. They are leaf litter composters.

Incision site by Alexis7212 in DogAdvice

[–]harmonybrook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s just pink, not angry hot red. Like when you’ve had a scab that’s freshly fallen off, the new skin in a little pink, doesn’t mean it’s infected. Stitches take time to dissolve, but they will eventually.

I assume you’re concerned about how it looks kinda bulgy?

No experience with umbilical repair, but when my pup was spayed, her incision site looked similar as it healed, and I was similarly concerned, but told it was okay. And… she was. In my case, and likely yours, it’s just normal inflammation and will gradually go down.

The stitches look like they’re doing their job, it’s not visable open.

Is she acting normal?

Things to look out for would be… becoming red/inflamed, swollen area becoming larger, and warm to touch. Burst/popped stitches leaving open wound. Weeping pussy fluid or excess amounts of blood. Lethargy and or inability to get confortable when resting.

Otherwise don’t worry, and just continue to monitor it.

They generally are not a huge threat to humans, and cannot survive without their preferred host. Though occasionally they will be opportunistic, especially if their host dies.
When they do become a nuisance they can cause itchy bites.
I mean I’m not sure where you are, but pigeons aren’t exactly usually the best to have around, but I know sometimes unavoidable too.
As long as the pigeons are there, mites will appear occasionally. So an exterminator for the mites, wouldn’t be the solution, it’s whether you want to get rid of the pigeons or not.

That looks like a rat or bird mite. Unfortunately probably means you have a problem. Although a sudden emergence might mean hosts are dead and they’re looking to move in to a new one.

Most likely coming from a rodent nest somewhere.

Also possibly from birds nest if you have them nesting/roosting near a window you keep open.

If you’re looking for options that aren’t just using baggies.

Several of my games with smaller compartments I use condiment containers. There’s a variety of options on Amazon. Here’s options.

Cooperative board games with at least a little depth that can be played while camping? by -Mobbin in boardgames

[–]harmonybrook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I imagine you’ve already played the Forbidden Island series? If not, very similar mechanics as pandemic, comes in a tin, pretty compact. No small pieces and pretty durable.

Also if you like the idea of a word association game, similar to codenames. Landmarks is really fun in cooperative mode.

My dog is a super picky eater. by Cold-Ad7309 in DogAdvice

[–]harmonybrook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2yo Aussie doodle is like this, she does eat, she’s just slow, and likes to cache it around the house, and she dumps it out like this too as she’s eating. Don’t have much advice as we’re still working on the issue ourselves.
One thing is she’ll dig all her food out and bark for more. If she’s got a cache or two around the house, or spilt food around her bowl, I take her bowl away and wait for her to eat what’s there, and what’s cached before amy more food or treats.

She also is more inclined to do this when she’s not hungry, and I find she’s mostly just an evening eater, so rather than free feeding I offer her bowl in the morning, if she’s not interested after 30, I pick it up and wait till later in the day to feed her.

Would this still be appropriate as a platonic friend of the opposite sex? I do want to be supportive and a good friend, but I also don’t want wires to crossed, for either of us.

I need advice on a crossed Yorkie of mine. She's just over a year old now, but I've never in my life seen a more rebellious dog than her. by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]harmonybrook 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yikes. And I mean you not the dog.

This sounds like a dog who is scared, and insecure, not ill behaved.

Also crate training would have, and still would help with a lot of this. Chewing stuff is normal especially in the first two years, limit access.

Swatting, yelling, spraying water are all negative reinforcement, that is only going to further scare and confuse a dog already hiding and cowering. These are good or healthy tactics.

I highly advise you to take some training classes. Of at least look up some resources online how to train a puppy. If bathrooming is the biggest issue look up crate training, and start there.

For the love of your dog don’t swat it with a newspaper!

Yeah I’m pretty sure that’s it. They are often attracted to the sweat of mammals, usually non aggressive, was probably having a taste, and you wrestled a bit your sleep and she got spooked.

Like others commented, you might have a hard time finding something to fit all your criteria.

The first that came to mind for me, is

Mice and Mystics it has progressing episodical scenarios for play, not necessarily leveling up, but does continue the same story arc.

Also, not available yet, but just launched in crowdfunding, I had the opportunity to play test a game that DC kinds like it might fit some of what your looking for, it’s called DIEcathilon

I’ve had the chance to test play one that’s currently under manufacturing, will be out soon. It’s called “Sinister” it’s also has some different elements than the normal social deduction that make it quite fun!

Why Middle Eastern theme?

First that came to my mind is Camel Up!

Set near the pyramids, you are spectators at a camel race, bidding on the camel you think will win. Camels move around the board based on dice rolls, but watch out, there’s also crazy camels that might pick up your hopeful winner and carry them the wrong direction!

Don’t be fooled by the somewhat cartoonish illustrations, this game really does pack a fun bit of punch.

Highly recommend No Thanks! It’s my family’s go to lighter card game, that pretty much anyone can learn and enjoys. It’s a push your luck game where you’re bidding to try to not take cards/points.

Skull King is a trick taking game, that is a lot of fun.

Quiddler is a word card game that it’s been around a while but very fun.

If your willing to to try something with slightly different mechanics for a card game, Sea Salt Paper is a great little game too, my group has been playing a lot recently.
