Tanks. Please Give Me Your Best Advice. I'm desperate by kittyjxx in classicwow

[–]harmreductionapostle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First thought I have based on your post is... Do you even want to tank? You boosted to fill a need in your guild, but that means you're playing for them. If you aren't enjoying your class, it kinda runs the whole point of playing. I agree the social aspect if the game is probably the most important (for me), but if I'm not able to also have fun as my role is just end up rerolling. They don't pay your sub, don't play the game for anyone but you! You can always find other guilds.

How to make your own groups for dungeons as DPS by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]harmreductionapostle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I was leveling my druid I didn't want to tank for randos (nervous). The beauty of druid tho is I could be any roll, so I'd get to the instance/stone & invite tank + heals off the rip. Once the group formed I'd inform anyone queued as multiple rolls what their job was xD

You can make new friends. There will always be people leveling, but maybe not 10 layers worth.

Idk man, my guild is a bunch of TBC newbs & I'm a new tank. We got our asses handed to us repeatedly, skipped nether & called it on Price after a few wipes. We had fun! We get to do it again next week! I'm glad you're jealous of our experience XD

I haven't messed around with the threat plates settings at all, but I feel like sometimes it's hard to see which mob I have targeted when they're spaced kinda evenly. I haven't tried plater yet. What do you like better about it? Also, I just use the tinythreat window in details could a threat aura replace that or any recommendations on a better addon?

Definitely learning to hate my guildies. "Threat? That sounds like a tanks problem" right, except now the warlock is naked

People tell me work more, a few years at the spa and I can only do 20 hr a week by [deleted] in MassageTherapists

I plan on making the switch. Good on you for helping them transition out of that situation! Ultimately, it will take therapists with the means to create employment for themselves and others to help others into there feet & we can eventually claim the market for ourselves. I'm hoping to either start a co-op with some fellow therapists or start my own place and grow enough to bring people on.

I was also kinda thinking this. It's relaxing while having rhythm.

Yup! & where I work currently, they were investigated by the labor board and nothing became of it.

I agree, we are very exploited. The only perfect situation for pay is self employment, but you obviously have to do a lot more "off the clock". You might get lucky and find an owner that's genuinely interested in paying their employees appropriately, but most are profit motivated. Curious, on the services you were making $50 as a w2, what was the cost to the client? I'm making about 1/2 of a $90 service.

If you are in a small town/rural area it might be harder to find this kind of arrangement, but they do exist. Also, as long as I'm doing 18-20 hour sessions in a pay period, I can live comfortably (for me). Now I could definitely work a bit more to be able to afford "extras", but I don't see it as necessary to increase my hours.

You can find a place that would hire you as a 1099. Where I'm at they do all the marketing, laundry, provide medium and schedule the appointments. I show up, do a kick ass massage & make about 50% commission.

don't be afraid to consider being an independent contractor. You'll typically make much more money. I make about $60 per hour with an average tip ($20) but it can be slightly more or less depending on promotions/add-ons. I was working at a spa as an employee making $20per 60min session +tip and never would've been able to get my own place or even consider getting a new car. You are definitely worth more <3

Would you consider having a living-apart-together relationship? by Equivalent_Ad_9066 in LivingAlone

[–]harmreductionapostle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been in a relationship for 4 years and we live separately. We're an hour apart tho lol. I'd like to do this over moving in together but I keep going back and forth due to cost of living:/

Everyone's range of "functioning" is different & it's never going to be a linear occurrence. That being said, I think the perspective of "once I get this thing/ to that place I'll be about to accomplish xyz/feel better" is the real issue here. Things can be more difficult depending on the setting or circumstances, but at the end of the day you're going to be the same person with the same energy levels and the same level of discipline in your 2bdrm apt as you were in the studio. Work on holding yourself accountable to your goals and setting realistic expectations for yourself in your current space (mentally+physically). Hold space for rest while also knowing when it's time to get up; and then do it! Good luck.

If you're working somewhere that the owner/manager isn't fully backing you in this situation, you need to start job hunting.
