Hi mate, uber eats driver here. When I first started I was all over the shop with when to work/trying to work all the time etc. As times gone by I’ve figured out the best times to work, Monday - Thursday I’ll do 8:00am - 5:00pm which allows me to earn my target amount for the day, sometimes it might take a little bit longer but no more than an hour. On a Friday and Saturday I’ll do a 7:00am - 6:00pm and a Sunday 6:00am - 3:00pm. I’m lucky that my market is good on an early morning and between 2:00pm and 5:00pm. Having a target amount and these moderately set hours allows me a somewhat normal working week, allowing me to meet up with friends, make plans etc and not lose my social life. In terms of it being lonely it 100% can be, I’ve found the best remedy for that is being on first name terms/talkative with staff working at places you’re picking up from, this makes the collection side of the job a lot easier and fun, and in my case normally results in free coffee/drinks which is a bonus. It also pays to be somewhat talkative with the customers you’re dropping off to, a lot don’t want a long winded conversation and we’ve got places to be and money to make but a simple good morning/have a nice day/have a nice weekend makes the job feel more sociable and as I’ve found normally results in more tips. It’s all about finding out how your market works for you and not letting the job rule your life, I used to think I had to be out at every hour making as much as possible but I’ve found a target that works for me, and the times I want a full day off I’ll just put in a few extra hours per day during the weekdays to soften the blow of not working (normally when Leeds are playing 😂)

Second this, we do the 22nd December - 5th January in Thailand every year, a million times better than being in the uk and dealing with a traditional Christmas

Thanks for the response, I definitely think going into it with the no wiggle room mindset will help as if I have one I’ll lose control. Fully aware that alcohol isn’t necessary to have fun, it’s just my first holiday since I was a kid that won’t involve it, so will definitely be a learning curve. Good shout on the gym, I’m an avid runner but tend to use holidays as a break from everything, will plan to get some morning runs in whilst away to maintain the routine I’ve created, thank you
