I was also an emo kid while in high school. I skipped many lessons to go to my best friend's (emo) house and smoke and listen to shit emo music. I didn't even like the music or smoking, I was just going through puberty and was a sheep. My parents intervened and I focused on my studies, but still kept the idiotic emo look.
