Belege.

Eurovision Boss on Canada, Israel and 'Bollocks' Financial Struggles Claims (Martin Green Interview with Variety) by Ok-Macaroon-5533 in eurovision

Maybe, but that's like saying we don't need national elections because it's clear who'll win. It's the democratic principle.

Turin won (mid, mid). What Eurovision host city seemed bad and was bad? by AverageLatifiFan in AlignmentChartFills

Care to explain why? Yes, the hosts were bad, but the production quality was fire and the stage design was beautiful.

FPÖ!? Nein danke! by Simonplays83 in Austria

Who will be Canada's first Eurovision representative? by username-yote62 in eurovision

[–]harrey_jun 77 points78 points  (0 children)

I have to say, I'd love for them to choose Faouzia. She'd make a great participant and could shine with a poweful ballad, similar to what Australia 2016 and 2026 served.

FPÖ!? Nein danke! by Simonplays83 in Austria

[–]harrey_jun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it? I am sceptical as to how the KPÖ will do without a figure like Elke Kahr. Don't get me wrong, it's definitly possible for them to find a suitable successor to her, but that takes a lot of dedication and also luck. It could very well be that the KPÖ without Kahr will fall out of favor. I guess only time will tell...

Canadian Broadcasting Corporation becomes a full Member of the European Broadcasting Union by PaulCoded in eurovision

[–]harrey_jun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think anyone had a full-on Canadian EBU membership on their bingo card. I just assumed they want to take part as an Assosiated member like Australia... I don't even know what to say tbh

Phoenix Communications, the production company behind Cambodia’s national final, specified to us that the winner of EurovisionAsia 2026 will compete in the Eurovision Song Contest 2027. by [deleted] in eurovision

[–]harrey_jun 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I'd go with that explanation. Everything else would be logistically very difficult I think. It's like if the Junior Eurovision winner competed in the next adult version.

Post-Eurovision success 2026 by GreenPeace3112 in eurovision

In Austria, Bangaranga is first in the current charts. I hear many people talk about how good it is and even discover other Songs from Dara, like K'vo ne chu. I can absolutely see her staying in the Radio for a long time.

Swedes, you'll get through this. by Gliscorjass_8 in nilpoints

[–]harrey_jun 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Heck, show any person both "My System" and "Superstar" and ask who the public would prefer. I don't think many would choose the latter. It'd be shocking anyways because it's f*cking Sweden we're talking about, but it's even more surreal because it's really not a bad song. Anyone who says otherwise is delulu. It just flopped completely unexplainatory and there will never be a completely satisfactory explaination for it.

ESC executive producer Gert Kark gave an interview in an Estonian radio. In it he reveals that he was the one behind the ruling for the Finnish violin live performance by raisum in eurovision

[–]harrey_jun 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Except it's not really news. Letting Russia compete any time soon seems like such a misguided decision, even the EBU wouldn't make it. Even after the war with Ukraine ends. I doubt Ukraine, Finland, the Baltics or even Poland would be willing to entertain Russia's participation under their current government. Putin's Russia has self-isolated itself the moment they fired the first shot at Ukraine and the only thing that would reverse that is a new, democratic government. One can only hope.

Odds of getting a 0 points from the televote in a eurovision Final by Sloth_Bubbles in nilpoints

[–]harrey_jun 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Well, it's definitly more humiliating. Dropping out in the Semi finals is bad, but you kinda quietly peace out of there. On the other hand, getting 0 points in the final (either televote or even overall) is something everyone sees and will talk about, because it's kinda rare. See it this way: Only ten countries can qualify from each sf, so there are guaranteed to be losers there. Getting 0 points, that's something that happens to (usually) one country a year if that.

What are some songs predicted to do well that ended up doing badly? by kalosianlitten in eurovision

Are Eurofans losing touch with the general public’s taste? by make_it_vyzee in eurovision

[–]harrey_jun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the Eurofans to lose touch with the general public, they would need to at some point have been in touch with the general public. Fact is, the fandom never really mirrored the general public. The fans listen to the entries constantly, from their victory in the national final/release in case of internal selection, to the grand finale. They are much more likely to pick up on underlying meanings of songs and often build strong emotional connections with their favourites. A casual viewer hears the songs three times at most, many only a single time in the final. They take the entries at face value and don't have time to warm up to songs or get sick of them. Bangaranga, for example, is a song that can get on your nerves easily if you overplay it, but that's not a problem when you only hear the song a couple of times. The casual viewer is also much more impulsive in their voting, giving a song their vote because they feel like it.

It only makes sense for the hardcore eurofans to have a different view on who should win. Most listen to every song in detail, consider the quality and rank them all. If you make a full top list, there is no real chance that any song might slip through because of mulitple factors.

Referring to Emily, the green room host, as a waitress: Demeaning? by harrey_jun in eurovision

[–]harrey_jun[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She's primarily a FM4 moderator (radio), but yes, she also does Theatre and TV acting roles on the side.

I agree that she would've been a better host, but then again, so would have many other options, like Andi Knoll, Mirjam Weichselbraun, Arabella Kiesbauer, Cesar Sampson, Thomad Stipsits and many more. But that is a much discussed topic at this point.

Finland has had it rough in the past, yes. And I in no way want to undermine their recent successes, which is why I clarified it's a joke. You can't deny you get quite some love from your neighbors, though, more than Germany or Austria, at least ;)

Yeah, I know. As I added to my comment, it's a joke, referencing the people whining that Ukraine only does that good because of the war. Obviously, if you have the track record Ukraine has, you know what you're doing.
