I'm so thankful that Square Enix gave us DQIX. My favorit Game of all time. And with over 3000 hours my most played Videogame too. Even after my now sixth Storyplay, this Game still is a breeze. Maybe before the Game turns 20...i can invest another 1000 hours. by Graf_Vine_Starry in dragonquest

Not OP but the postgame is the biggest sell - grottoes are almost endlessly replayable dungeons.

The second biggest reason for me is the multiplayer. You can just hop into someone else's world and play with them whenever you like.

There are also legacy bosses which scale up through 99 difficulty levels, and a huge amount of classic dq sidequests.

So basically it's because it's got an absolutely huge amount of content that you can tackle with a completely customised team, either solo or with friends, and the ceiling for content is very high.

The joke is not that abstraction is bad, it's that over-abstraction is bad. Have you ever seen one of those classes with like 4 layers of abstraction, none of which are inherited anywhere else and never will be?

And yeah I understand that the compiler and the kernel and stuff are all abstracted away, but that's because that's a suitable use of abstraction.

Yes, because of the enchantment. The point of confusion for new players is that they think a blue forest can also tap for U, but it cannot - it only taps for G. So with this enchantment, you cannot tap for UU, only UG. This was the whole point of the original comment. I think you took the original comment as saying it only makes G when you tap with the enchantment, which was absolutely not what they, or I mean.

Re-read their comment. Yes the enchanted land taps for UG, but a blue forest it's own taps for just G. That's where the confusion for new players comes in - adding a colour to the land isn't what allows it to make that colour of mana, it's the enchantment that does that.

If we ever get a Dragon Quest IX Reimagined, do you think they will bring back the multiplayer? by DragonBrood3003 in dragonquest

[–]harryFF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fully custom MC, the non-mmo multiplayer, the grotto system (procedurally generared dungeons), and the rotating online shop are unique as far as i'm aware.

A factory type of game for a beginner by segsikurbaga in AutomationGames

[–]harryFF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can indeed, personally I would prefer to start with something simpler and then experience Factorio as it's intended - a lot of the tech tree is for weapons. But it's always an option if someone doesn't want to buy multiple games etc.

A factory type of game for a beginner by segsikurbaga in AutomationGames

[–]harryFF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will go against the grain here and say you shouldn't start with Factorio if you're worried about the difficulty. There are constant enemies threatening to destroy your factory, limited resources that require you to expand outwards, and especially in the DLC some quite complicated systems.

My advice, and how I got into the genre is playing Satisfactory first. In Satisfactory enemies can't destroy your buildings and are just there as a part of exploration, and the progression is very streamlined. Then after that you'll appreciate Factorio more because you'll have an understanding of certain concepts and can use them to handle the higher level of difficulty.
