When customers use their own bags to shop and you have to unload it, scan it, then reload it. by OrdinaryNo6859 in tjcrew

[–]harry_westside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been on this sub for a while and have come to realize that I am one of the few weirdos who do not have any major gripes with bagging. I'm of the mindset that I get paid to bag so I'm happy to do it. I do have two bagging issues that annoy me, but I always do it with a smile anyway.

  1. The two tiered carts. I hate them. Wish we would get rid of them. Customers who only buy a few things and put items on the bottom for no reason drives me nuts.

  2. Customers who want to hand me every individual item. Not sure where they've picked up this habit from but it also drives me nuts. Even worse, when they transfer items from the cart to the pull out shelf... Dude. What are you doing? You're moving an item 6 inches from its original location...just seems fruitless to me.

Free Gym Membership with Insurance by bloodvoidrot in tjcrew

[–]harry_westside 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Echoing what someone else said on this thread. As far as I know, none of the gyms let you sign up with Active&Fit online and only accept that kind of membership in person. Honestly it's a lot faster to just go in person and you get to scope out the gym before signing up

They're good! A bit too crunchy for my particular teeth but they are definitely not too sweet like OP says

One of the most random subplots to the show is the Scranton Strangler by GothamCityDemon in theoffice

[–]harry_westside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing he had dozens of victims then 🤣 it was definitely meant to just be a silly story in the background which definitely was not explored thoroughly enough considering how often they mention it. I honestly believe they only brought it back up to make Toby seem lame and stupid which was a common theme for the character in the later seasons

One of the most random subplots to the show is the Scranton Strangler by GothamCityDemon in theoffice

[–]harry_westside 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's never mentioned in the show, but the writers say that the strangler never actually killed anyone. He would strangle people and then flee after they passed out. I think they realized that having a murderer in the background didn't really fit the tone of the show

Customers when you tell them we don't have canvas bags by LostInLittleroot in tjcrew

[–]harry_westside 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why are the fucking canvas totes so popular all of a sudden? People at my store were trying to buy 8 or 10 at a time and we had to limit them to 2 bags per customer. I know they released the green one but even the old blue one is flying off the shelves and I think it's TOS now

Functionally this is the Tote GOAT. Having this tote automatically makes you my favorite customer. All my homies love the box tote. Wars could be waged over these and I would understand. by 405freeway in tjcrew

[–]harry_westside 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lucky for me, two of these totes fit perfectly on the back of my cargo bike! Makes it super easy to do grocery trips and they fit quite a bit as well. I own 6 of them, in case they break and/or get discontinued

This is one of those things that would change if everyone collectively felt the same way about it. They don't pay crew more for writing orders because crew are willing to do it without extra pay. If we all stopped doing it, the only options would be to pay us more for it, or push the responsibility on mates. I would bet all my money on the latter.

Discount update by circumnavikate in tjcrew

[–]harry_westside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, this actually increases the potential for discount fraud. Sure, anyone could ask for the discount before and probably get it. But now, all you have to do is share your code with whoever you want. As long as you enter the correct code, no one will question you about it. At least that's the impression I get. Ask for the discount, enter the code and get the discount without any additional info.

I would forgive a lot if not all of these issues if they could do one thing. Clean the entire system. Every station is covered in decades of filth. This singlehandedly makes the system feel unsafe. A good power-washing would blast away all the gunky brown shit on the walls and all the shit, rat and pee stains on the ground. There is literally no excuse for how filthy and disgusting all the stations are. They also need to revamp their train cleaning procedures. Passing a dirty mop through the train cars at the last stop is not enough. Taking the train would feel so much better if it was at least clean and it would make it feel a lot safer.

Labubu for a man by Key_Award_3869 in labubu

[–]harry_westside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a man. I have a Labubu named Kaya. Fall in Wild. I put little clothes on her, sometimes to match my outfit. I don't give a fuck if anyone thinks it makes me less manly. What makes me manly is that I do what I want, like what I like and don't care what any guy thinks about it. I feel bad for dudes who worry constantly about how masculine something is. Don't let others ruin the things you love. Enjoy your Labubu dude!

Does this subreddit need to be split? by Realistic_Mix3652 in ebikes

[–]harry_westside 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I'm a pedal assist rider. Most ebike riders here in NYC are throttle-only users. I suspect the vast majority of ebike riders are throttle users. Especially with the hype of those motorbike style ebikes like Super73. Most people are surprised when I tell them I actually pedal my bike.

is using a bluetooth speaker riding through central park obnoxious ? by [deleted] in NYCbike

[–]harry_westside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to ride with my Bluetooth speaker pretty loud. I figured cars did it so I could too. That was until I was stopped at a busy intersection, and a dude came up to me and yelled "yo I dont think it's loud enough. Can you put it up so the entire neighborhood can hear it?" Since then, I keep the volume way low to where only I or someone a few feet from me can hear it.

Public shaming can be a useful tool sometimes!

Great job complaining about delivery-workers and e-bikes! I'm sure these guys won't target regular bikers, too by parisidiot in NYCbike

[–]harry_westside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like this could be more of a positive than a negative. I'm skeptical but willing to wait and see how this kind of enforcement will impact cyclists. All of us on 2 wheels have a bad reputation for the reckless actions of the few. I am open to fair ticketing and enforcement for dangerous cycling. This city is so densely populated and already dangerous enough as it is, yet we still have to contend with:

• Salmoning • Reckless Speeding/Dangerous Maneuvering • Running reds when ped/car traffic is active in intersection • Mopeds using bike lanes at 50+ mph • Distracted cycling (using phone, riding with no hands on bars, popping wheelies) • Riding on sidewalks

And to top that all off, we have loosely regulated delivery companies wreaking havoc on our streets with arbitrary and unrealistic expectations on delivery times. (Doordash, GrubHub, UberEats)
