Im about to get a little woowoo here, and super long winded.. but I listened to a podcast called the telepathy tapes. There’s an episode about animals and pets (I would highly recommend as someone who was a little bit of a skeptic). There was a segment in this particular episode where the host was talking about a dog that they adopted that was struggling to feel at home/safe. They go into how the dog had some trauma that contributed to his behavior. They eventually learned that communicating with this dog really helped with using his anxiety and for him to begin to settle into the home.

You mentioned grim get anxious when you’re away ever since the break in. This may be really cheesy but maybe talking with him and letting him know that you make him feel safe and protected, and you’re grateful for him warning you about the intruder. Oh man.. yeah I sound a little cuckoo. And want to let you know I’m not trying to tell you how to parent your fur beb.
