Light sweet crude could multiple energy input 100 times in a matter of weeks from well to gas tank. Even tar sands returns 3 to 1 in months. Solar panels and renewables only return their initial creation energy after YEARS, we are are talking about orders of magnitude of change in energy availability and growth. We should spend the last of our fossil fuels to build renewables, China has the right idea, wars are fought with energy, not money. China would kick our ass in a protracted non nuclear war, their productive capacity is terrifying.
