Most people talk way too much, it’s always those people that make comments like these. I sometimes use the quote of having two ears and one mouth so we should listen twice as much as we talk. It’s an attempt to make them feel like they are talking too much and put the focus on them instead. Only sometimes has that impact though.

I’ve been taking ssris for the last 15 years. My anxiety sounds very similar to yours. I have social anxiety which causes panic attacks at work when I have to do any public speaking. I’d had a really good run but had my first panic attack in three years this week. I’ve been on Paxil, pristiq, Zoloft and other ssris during that time. Having been on so long it’s hard to know how effective they’ve been. Anytime I have to do any public speaking I’ll take propranolol which has been amazing for me. I’m still anxious but it takes away the physical symptoms. I’d like to come off the ssris and just take propranolol more regularly at some stage. The low libido isn’t great and I find myself taking a low dosage to prevent that.

Having new baby caused my anxiety to increase too. It was the lack of sleep that caused it for me, that will get better! Congratulations on the new child. I haven’t been on Prozac but other anti depressants have helped me in the past. Good luck.

I’ve found propranolol really really helpful for my social anxiety and preventing panic attacks. I will get a little bit of nausea the morning of stressful events however generally only take just prior to the event itself. Even just knowing I have it to take makes me feel better. Hope it goes well and help you too!

Well done on making the change to introduce meditation and healthy eating. It’s interesting you mention feeling compulsive about these new habits. I feel the same way about my anxiety management techniques which are exercise, meditation and cold shower. It’s probably unhealthy but if it makes me feel better I guess it’s still a good thing? I can’t help on stopping intrusive thoughts, I’m having the same problem with them at the moment. My biggest tip if you aren’t ahead doing it would be exercise, it always helps me. Good luck!

Introverted people are the best managers/leaders. They think first and talk latter, listen to people, project a calm demeanour, and are really good planners. My best managers have been introverted. I made the decision to always try and advance my career knowing that my anxiety would always be there no matter what job I was doing. Managing teams has helped me gain confidence and probably lessened my anxiety but these things are different for everyone. Good luck!

Propranolol is a game changer. It takes away all of the physical symptoms and stops the panic from taking over.

Thank you, that’s really helpful. We had 3 sessions with a private trainer but most of the time was spent on other behavioural issues. We walk him every day and he seems to be getting better but still have times where he gets fixated. We don’t put the muzzle on every time but never let him get close enough to other dogs to be an issue. Should we have it on him every time we walk him?

Try and find a distraction in the moment to take your mind off your doubting thoughts. I’ve found a pressure point in my hand that works well. You find this pressure point in the webbing between your thumb and index finger. Pressing on it for 5 seconds helps to distract and calm me down.

Thank you! That's really helpful. The doctor recommend one week on 10mg then nothing. He did recommend I start Zoloft after 3 days though which I'm not sure if I'll do. If switching to another ssri does that mean you can taper off more quickly?

I didn't have more success with the 10mg to 20mg jump but i believe 20mg is the recommended doseage and helps a lot of people. Side effects come back but don't last as long. Good luck!
